At Medtronic, we are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager who will operate autonomously with minimal oversight on extensive, intricate projects, programs, and portfolio (PPP) initiatives. This role entails full accountability for the successful realization of outcomes through proficient organization and leadership, business case and benefits management, stakeholder engagement, risk assessment, and issue resolution, as well as planning and control, change management, and quality assurance (ensuring compliance with all Corporate and IT standards).

The Senior IT Project Manager may also serve as a Portfolio lead for a specific value stream, facilitating Portfolio Planning, Strategy & Portfolio Reviews, identifying opportunities for enhanced efficiency, recognizing Portfolio Risks and mitigating them, providing visibility on Portfolio and Roadmap (which encompasses project and operational demand), preparing AOP Planning in collaboration with GR IT Lead & Business, and supporting PM/SM (in accordance with standards) to manage demand.

Daily Responsibilities

In this role, you will develop and oversee all aspects of the PPP(s) from initiation through execution and closure. You will ensure that the PPP complies with all Corporate and IT policies and standards while effectively managing the constraints of project management: Scope, Cost, Schedule, and Quality. As a Senior IT Project Manager, you will provide technical and analytical guidance and recommendations to leadership governance bodies, facilitate communication & reporting, and stay updated on advancements and best practices in project management methodologies. You will deliver and manage assigned projects and collaborate with other stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes. You may mentor colleagues or direct the work of junior professionals. Your primary focus will be on delivering and supervising projects – from design to implementation – while adhering to policies and utilizing specialized knowledge and skills acquired through advanced education. You will frequently communicate with internal & external contacts/stakeholders to share information, status updates, needs, and issues to inform, gather input, and support decision-making.

Skills and Competencies

As a Senior IT Project Manager, you will assume full responsibility for the definition, documentation, and successful completion of complex PPPs, typically with significant business, political, or high-profile impact, and high-risk dependencies. You will adopt and adapt project management methodologies and tools, selecting appropriately from plan-driven/predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative and agile) methodologies. You will ensure that effective project control, change control, risk management, and testing processes are upheld. You will monitor and control resources, revenue, and capital costs against the project budget and manage the expectations of all project stakeholders. As a Senior IT Project Manager, you will have defined authority and accountability for actions and decisions within a significant area of work, including technical, financial, and quality aspects. You will influence policy and strategy formation, initiate influential relationships with internal and external customers, suppliers, and partners at senior management level, including industry leaders. You will understand and communicate industry developments and the role and impact of technology in the organization. You will take the initiative to keep your own and colleagues' skills current and manage and mitigate risk.

Reporting & PPP Support

· Ensure timely delivery & quality of overall reporting and PPP deliverables.

· Responsible for monitoring and reporting on portfolio/project budget and resources.

· Challenge Project and Program Managers regarding PPP deliverables timeliness, quality, accuracy, and integrity for the assigned portfolio.

· Prepare financial reporting and analysis (portfolio and projects).

· Attend meetings and document minutes as required.

· Timely escalation of issues to all relevant stakeholders (portfolio and projects).

· Support various types of projects such as Salesforce, SAP, Data & Analysis, AI space, etc.

· Release management support activities.

PPP Services

· Develop PPP plans (portfolio and projects) and proactively assist with regular scheduling activities.

· Provide accurate PPP dashboard reporting & metrics (status on the triple constraints). Responsible for effectively managing the constraints of project management: Scope, Cost, Schedule.

· Provide guidance during the financial forecasting (budget) process and proactively assist with regular financial management of portfolio and projects. Creation of POs, follow-up of SAP actuals, etc.

· Structure regular review and tollgate meetings for portfolio and projects.

· Prepare and conduct communication and/or escalations on issues/risks and the required contingency/mitigation actions to the portfolio/project sponsor and stakeholders.

· Provide technical and analytical guidance and recommendations to leadership governance bodies.

· Secure documentation of all relevant PPP documents, decisions, and changes.

Innovations & Improvements

· Deliver proactive input into PPP Process (portfolio and project), Governance, and Documentation improvements.

· Drive the implementation and integration of PPP management methods (portfolio and project).

· Stay current on advancements and best practices in project management methodologies.

· Participate in initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of project management processes in collaboration with IT Means & Methods.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree (or Master's degree).

· 7+ years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

· Proficient in English speaking & writing.

· Preferably multi-lingual (Portuguese _ Spanish).

· 3+ years of experience working with global stakeholders and business partners.

· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

· Financial acumen.

· Understanding of PPP systems (e.g., PlanView/PlanIsWare) and methodologies like PMP, Prince II, Agile/Scrum.

· Broad business understanding and deep understanding of own specialism(s).

· Capable of performing highly complex work activities covering technical, financial, and quality aspects.

· Knowledge/experience with PPP Management.
