About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Database Systems Engineer to join our team at Telesign. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux and database administration, with expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and experience in supporting high-transaction volumes and complex database systems.



Key Responsibilities



  • Provide production support for our database systems, ensuring 99.99% uptime and working closely with our Global Operations team.
  • Administer Windows Microsoft SQL Server, including installation, deployment, maintenance, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Support database development activities, including database query patterns, table design, and performance recommendations.
  • Collaborate with senior technical staff to deliver highly available and reliable database platforms that meet the needs of our business.
  • Provide consultative support to colleagues on database-related topics and stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.


Requirements



  • University degree in applied sciences or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in database administration on Linux-based systems, with expertise in MSSQL, Postgres, MySQL, or Cassandra.
  • Experience in resolving database problems, including working with database providers, database performance issues, and native monitoring tools.
  • MCITP certification is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in performance tuning, disaster recovery, high availability, backup/recovery, and replication.
  • Understanding of indexes, index management, and statistics.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience working with MSSQL, AWS DynamoDB, Redshift, Athena, S3 Queries.
  • Experience working with MySQL and Postgres is a plus.
  • Experience in a fast-moving, agile development-based environment, preferably SaaS or cloud-delivering product offerings.
  • Basic knowledge of BI concepts (cubes, ETL) and MS BI tools.
  • Understanding of internet security concepts and voice telecom and SMS messaging terminology.
