About the PositionWe are seeking an Environmental Expert for Extractivism and Sustainability to join our team. This three-year contract offers a unique opportunity to work on projects addressing the ecological consequences of extractivism in Colombia. The position involves supporting communities in educational processes, conducting environmental analyses, and providing technical support on environmental issues.
Your Tasks- You will support communities in participatory planning processes to clarify socio-economic conflicts related to extractivism, focusing on rights and gender aspects.
- You will conduct hydrological risk assessments and identify potential areas for sustainable use of water sources in prioritized regions.
- You will provide technical expertise on environmental issues in lobbying and legal proceedings, working closely with partner organizations.
- You will accompany partner organizations in legal, educational, and communication processes, ensuring compliance with donor guidelines and AGIAMONDO specifications.
- You will lead studies on the protection and sustainable use of water sources, preparing analytical reports and communication materials on environmental conflicts.
- You will strengthen networks, support thematic partnerships, and provide technical support for national and international lobbying efforts.
- You hold a relevant university degree in natural or environmental sciences, such as environmental engineering, ecology, biology, or geography.
- A Master's degree in biodiversity, environmental law, or ecological assessment is highly desirable.
- You have at least 3 years of professional experience in the field of environmental conflicts, ideally in the context of extractivism.
- You have experience in biodiversity and/or environmental impact assessment, particularly in the mining sector.
- You are fluent in Spanish and possess good English language skills.
- You are an EU citizen or Swiss national and share the values and concerns of church development and peace work.
- Individual preparation and comprehensive training
- Three-year contract with social security and remuneration according to the Development Aid Act
- Further training in country-specific language skills, coaching, and supervision
- Individual counseling and support
