Bilingual Junior Accountant

TMF Colombia is seeking a highly skilled Bilingual Junior Accountant to support our US Accounting & Tax Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Process vendor invoices and employee expenses, verifying approvals and accuracy in accordance with Client policy, tax calculations, foreign exchange rates, and other relevant factors.
  2. Assist in coding all AP and employee expenses based on Client Chart of Accounts and posting to the accounting system.
  3. Process regular cheque runs or electronic payments to ensure timely payment based on due dates.
  4. Generate and issue client invoices to Canadian or Intercompany customers, verifying tax calculations where applicable.
  5. Assist in preparing month-end closing entries, including full accrual accounting, providing general journal entries for Canadian Fixed Asset depreciation, amortization of prepaid expenses, bank entries, and bank reconciliations, payroll, and other liability accruals, for Financial Reporting to both Parent and Subsidiary.
  6. Calculate and prepare GST/HST, PST, QST, and other applicable compliance reporting and filing for all jurisdictions and reconcile the accounts.
  7. Interact with clients, suppliers, and other internal TMF departments as required.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements:

  • Professional or Student in accounting-related areas.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge, with experience in spreadsheet development and maintenance.
  • Prior experience working in a multi-client environment is an asset.
  • Exposure to accounting software packages (QuickBooks, Netsuite, SAP) is an asset.
  • Experience in preparing detailed analysis and reconciliations is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Sales Tax regulations and preparing and filing VAT returns is an asset.
  • Advanced English Skills.
