The Green Team Lead - Waste Management Specialist will play a crucial role in promoting environmentally conscious practices and waste management throughout the SoulPlay experience. As the key person responsible for overseeing recycling efforts, coordinating waste reduction initiatives, and fostering a culture of sustainability among festival attendees, this position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-Festival Planning
    • Develop a comprehensive waste management plan, including collaboration with production teams to ensure efficient waste disposal.
    • Coordinate with food vendors and catering services to encourage eco-friendly practices and develop strategies for separating and disposing of waste.
    • Schedule training sessions for the green team to review event flow and volunteer positions.
  • During Festival Operations
    • Lead and manage the Green Team volunteers during the event, providing guidance, support, and ensuring effective communication.
    • Oversee the sorting and collection of waste, guiding volunteers to ensure proper disposal of recyclables, compostables, and general waste.
    • Regularly monitor waste collection points, assess the effectiveness of waste management initiatives, and provide reports to event organizers for future improvement.
    • Address any challenges related to waste management promptly, employing creative solutions to enhance the Green Team's impact.
    • Conduct a post-event evaluation of waste management efforts, gathering feedback from volunteers and attendees to identify areas for improvement in future festivals.
  • Qualifications and Skills:
    • Demonstrated commitment to environmental sustainability and waste reduction practices.
    • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
    • Strong communication skills to effectively convey the importance of sustainable practices and waste reduction to volunteers, vendors, and festival attendees.
    • Quickly identify and address issues that may arise during waste management activities, implementing effective and creative solutions.
    • Excellent organizational abilities, including the capacity to plan and execute waste management initiatives, manage timelines, and coordinate various aspects of the Green Team's efforts.
    • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work well with diverse teams, including Green Team members, volunteers, and other event organizers.
    • Adapt to changing circumstances and navigate unforeseen challenges with a flexible and solution-oriented mindset.

This role offers a competitive salary of $65,000 per year, plus additional benefits, including free festival tickets, parking passes, car camping passes, SoulPlay swag, and access to Connect Events Tickets. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their leadership, organizational, and communication skills through hands-on experience, gaining insights into large-scale event management.
