Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

The Alliance Bioversity-CIAT is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join their team in Colombia. This is a national recruited position, and the selected candidate will be employed on a fixed-term contract for one year, renewable based on performance and availability of resources.
As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, deploying, and supporting scalable, secure cloud and hybrid solutions tailored to research projects. You will bridge the gap between development/research and operations teams by enhancing automation, monitoring, and deployment processes for both on-premises and cloud-based environments.
Your key responsibilities will include evaluating new technologies, promoting serverless frameworks, and assisting with cloud migration. Additionally, you will optimize resource usage to improve performance, reduce costs, and support data management while facilitating collaboration through seamless access to shared data and resources.
You will work closely with developers teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues during deployment and ensure smooth integration, automating repetitive tasks, reducing manual interventions, and enhancing system reliability.
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronic engineering, or related fields, as well as specialization, training courses, or certifications in Cloud Computing, Systems Architecture, AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional., AWS Specialty's certifications, Azure and Google Cloud Platform certifications.
With a minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in an international organization, research, or academic environment in DevOps, system administration, or cloud operations, you will possess advanced English level (oral and written), comprehensive understanding of multi-tier architectures, knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems, and NoSQL databases, proficiency with message queuing systems and Enterprise Service Bus technologies, and familiarity with Content Delivery Networks.
A strong understanding of RESTful web services and data formats, proficiency in automation tools, experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration, programming and scripting skills in Bash, Python, or PowerShell, familiarity with version control systems, and CI/CD platforms, as well as experience managing server infrastructures with tools like VMware or ProxMox, are essential for this role.
