About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Specialist/Lead Accounting Specialist to join our team at American Airlines. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for providing financial support and guidance to ensure the smooth operation of our accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Analysis and Reporting: Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheet account reconciliations and associated journal entries, to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls and regulations.
- Accounting Operations: Oversee the day-to-day accounting activities, including disbursements and banking, to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Tax and Regulatory Compliance: Support various tax and statistical filings, and ensure compliance with local country regulations.
- Project Management: Work on multiple projects simultaneously, setting deadlines and adjusting priorities to ensure successful project delivery.
- Team Leadership: Supervise a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the team's success.
Requirements
- Education and Experience: University degree in accounting or equivalent education/training, with at least 3 years of experience working in an accounting environment.
- Skills and Qualifications: Fluent in verbal and written English, excellent analytical skills, proficiency in PC and Microsoft Office software, strong organizational skills, and ability to work flexible hours.
- Preferred Qualifications: Qualified or Part Qualified CPA, ACCA, AAT, MBA or equivalent education/certification, knowledge of tax laws and local reporting requirements, knowledge of airline accounting practices, and knowledge of SAP.
