International Materials Group is a leading bulk raw commodity trader with a global presence. Our company was established in 1986 and has since grown to become one of the largest independent traders in the world.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Operator to join our fast-growing Base Metals unit. This individual will be responsible for coordinating international container movements, booking management, documentation, and other logistical tasks.

Responsibilities

  1. Container Movement Coordination: Plan, book, and monitor the shipment of containers for metals, ensuring timely delivery and efficient handling at ports and terminals.
  2. Booking Management: Work with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and customers to secure container bookings and manage vessel schedules, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  3. Documentation: Receive, process, prepare, and ensure timely submission and modification of all required shipping documents, such as bills of lading, certificates of origin, weight tickets, commercial invoices, and other paperwork.
  4. Monitoring Loading and Unloading: Coordinate with suppliers and carriers to oversee the accurate loading and unloading of containers, ensuring proper weight and volume compliance.
  5. Internal Billing Process: Collaborate with the finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely payments to commercial and logistical counterparts. Verify freight rates, demurrage charges, and other logistics-related expenses for correct billing.
  6. Invoicing: Timely invoicing to customers based on commercial agreement payment terms.
  7. Tracking and Tracing: Maintain real-time tracking of containers throughout their journey, providing updates to internal and external stakeholders, as necessary.
  8. Reporting and Analysis: Update trade information, container schedule, and other reporting. Analyze P and L and review financial transactions associated with the trade.
  9. Logistics Support: Manage other logistical tasks to support operational functions, such as DHL shipments, samples management, invoices, documents delivery/tracking.
  10. Process Enhancement: Strategize and enhance processes and procedures to benefit containerized operations of the organization.

Requirements

  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or shipping, with specific experience in container operations.
  2. Bilingual English/Spanish.
  3. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle unexpected changes, and make decisions under pressure.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Word.
  6. Meticulous, detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  7. Ability to complete tasks independently while collaborating with a team.
