SAP Basis Consultant

Experienced SAP Basis professional responsible for leading design, implementation, optimization, and support of SAP landscapes. Role involves end‑to‑end responsibility for system availability, performance, security, upgrades, migrations and automation. The Senior Basis Consultant will coordinate with DBAs, OS, networking and security teams, mentor junior staff, and support both on‑premise and cloud SAP deployments.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead architecture design and implementation for SAP environments (ECC and S/4HANA) across development, QA and production landscapes.

- Plan and execute installations, kernel upgrades, Support Package Stacks, patching and SAP Note application.

- Drive database migrations and conversions (including SAP HANA migrations and S/4HANA conversions) in collaboration with DBAs.

- Implement and maintain high‑availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions; define backup and restore strategies and validate recovery procedures.

- Configure and manage SAP Solution Manager and monitoring platforms (CCMS, Focused Run, or equivalent).

- Manage transport landscape and change control processes (CTS/CTS+), and define deployment windows and rollback procedures.

- Automate operational tasks using scripting and orchestration tools (Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, etc.).

- Ensure system security and hardening; coordinate patching and security audits with security teams.

- Provide advanced troubleshooting for incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

- Lead go‑live activities and provide hypercare support; coach and mentor junior Basis administrators.

- Collaborate with cloud and infrastructure teams for SAP deployments on AWS, Azure or GCP and support cost/performance optimization.

- Maintain architecture, runbooks and operational documentation; contribute to capacity planning and system sizing.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent experience.

- Minimum of six years of hands‑on SAP Basis experience in complex enterprise environments.

- Strong experience with SAP S/4HANA and/or SAP ECC and administration of SAP HANA, Oracle or SQL Server databases.

- Proven track record with system installs, upgrades, migrations and performance tuning.

- Solid knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows server administration.

- Experience with backup/recovery, HA/DR solutions and disaster recovery testing.

- Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager and enterprise monitoring tools.

- Professional proficiency in Spanish and strong technical English for documentation and collaboration with global teams.

- Availability for periodic on‑call rotation and after‑hours maintenance windows.

Preferred Qualifications

- SAP Basis, SAP HANA or related certifications.

- Experience with automation and DevOps tools (Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, etc.).

- Experience managing SAP landscapes on public cloud platforms and cloud migration projects.

- Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage, virtualization and network configuration relevant to SAP workloads.

- ITIL Foundation or equivalent experience with change and incident management processes.

Technical and Soft Skills

- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to handle high‑severity incidents.

- Leadership and mentoring capability; experience coordinating cross‑functional teams.

- Excellent documentation and communication skills in Spanish and English.

- Results‑driven, detail‑oriented, and able to work under pressure during go‑lives and critical events.

Certifications (Recommended)

- SAP Certified Technology Associate — System Administration (SAP HANA) or similar.

- Cloud provider certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) for SAP workloads.

- ITIL Foundation desirable.
