As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing expert civil engineering support and guidance on renewable energy projects across various international regions. You will be leading our Renewables Civil Engineering team and will have a close collaboration with other key team stakeholders (Renewables Engineering Lead, Renewables Electrical Lead, etc.)- Job description:
- Provide technical leadership and promote technical excellence in civil engineering for renewable energy projects, including solar and wind power plants, across different international markets.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary and international teams to ensure efficient and effective project delivery, meeting quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Resource and lead a team that provides civil technical support at all project stages including: feasibility studies, tender procurement, technical due diligence reviews, front end engineering design (FEED) studies and owner’s engineer (OE) services.
- Provide headship conducting thorough site assessments and feasibility studies for potential renewable energy project sites, evaluating geotechnical conditions, environmental impact, and infrastructure requirements.
- Experience overseeing or reviewing hydrological and flooding studies.
- Preparation of technical specifications, tender packages and technical tender evaluation.
- Oversee the design of civil infrastructure for renewable energy projects, including foundations, access roads, drainage systems, substations and ancillary facilities.
- Ensure compliance with international codes, regulations, and best practices in civil engineering.
- Provide technical oversight and support during the construction phase of renewable energy projects, collaborating with contractors and project managers to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Address and resolve major civil engineering-related issues during construction, minimizing potential delays or cost overruns.
- Collaborate with environmental specialists and social teams to address environmental and social considerations in the civil engineering design and implementation, ensuring sustainable and socially responsible project outcomes.
- Lead or participate in meetings and conference calls with lenders, investors, developers, contractors, and engineers regarding technical documentation and construction issues.
- Engage with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders in different international regions to understand project requirements, address concerns, and build positive working relationships.
- Uphold a strong commitment to health and safety in all civil engineering activities, ensuring compliance with international and local safety regulations and practices.- Bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in civil engineering, specially within the renewable energy sector.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team and collaborate with diverse teams in multicultural environments.
- Experience in the in construction of wind farms of utility scale is a must. Similar experience for solar PV plants is a plus.
- Design experience gained from concept development and detailed engineering and practical experience gained from construction.
- Commercial and contractual awareness (e.g. FIDIC, NEC)
- Strong technical skills in detail civil design for utility scale plants using specialized calculation or modelling software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar.
- In-depth knowledge of international civil engineering codes, standards, and regulations.
- Willingness to travel to project sites in various international locations as required.
- Diplomatic skills and honesty are requirements in a multi-cultural organisation with high ethical standards.
