**GENERAL CONTEXT**
Médecins Sans Frontières is an international independent medical-humanitarian organisation, which offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.

**GENERAL CONTEXT**
Simulation is the science and methodology of creating a realistic situation or environments similar to reality, to provoke experiences that allow persons, in a controlled and safe space, to practice, learn, reflect, design, test or to gain understanding of systems or/and human actions.
Therefore, at MSF we are very interested in using simulation to build competences, but also to reflect on and solve those questions, challenges and problems that we face in our day-to-day work, in order to define new ways of doing things and bring about positive changes at the level of individuals, teams and the organisation itself. In order to take advantage of the benefits of this methodology, we are working to integrate simulation into our daily work in the organization at all levels.

Taking in consideration the growing interest in the use of simulation in MSF and the recognized evidence-based benefits of simulation, MSF Field Simulation TIC is continuously working to support the gradual increase in the use of simulation in MSF aiming at to positively contribute to the quality of humanitarian medical assistance MSF provides to the population.

This will be done by working in three main areas and pillars:

- Continue capacity building activities, as well as the development of learning solutions to design, organise, facilitate and implement simulation programmes following best practices
- Continue to progressively integrate simulation into different identified MSF ecosystems (systems and processes), to contribute to the reflection, improvement and innovation of its medical-humanitarian activities.
- MSF will continue to explore innovative uses of simulation in the field and at headquarters for the benefit of individuals, teams and the organization itself.

**OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION**

The Field Simulation Team would like to develop a comprehensive “emergency simulation package” offering field users a set of targeted ready-to-use simulations. This package’s aim is to tackle key strategic and practical skills that can prove critical during an emergency response. Its added value resides in the immediacy and rapidity that simulation offers both in building new skills and in testing existing plans.

The person recruited for this position will work alongside three other colleagues:

- The “MED-OPS Emergency simulation mapping & design support” and the “WASH-LOG Emergency simulation mapping & design support”, these two profiles joined the Field Simulation Team between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 to undertake full mapping of all existing emergency-related simulation material and to contribute to the design of the emergency simulation package.

The “WASH LOG Emergency Simulation - Mobile Implementing Officer’s” role will have two main objectives:

- On one side he/she/they will support in the design and development of the Emergency simulation package in liaison with the “MED-OPS Emergency simulation MIO”, “MED-OPS Emergency simulation mapping & design support” and the “WASH-LOG Emergency simulation mapping & design support”, with a focus on simulations related to Environmental Health and logistics
- On the other his/her/their aim will be to implement / support the implementation of emergency-related simulation pilots on the field. The purpose of the WASH-LOG Emergency Simulation MIO will be to pilot specific simulation packages, analyze the outcomes, and propose adaptations. This might entail the training of simulation facilitators and underpinning the integration of emergency simulation in the mission / project routines.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
1. In relation to the first objective the WASH-LOG Simulation Support MIO will contribute, together with the rest of the team assigned to the project (MED-OPS / WASH-LOG Simulation Mapping & Design Support, MED-OPS MIO, TIC Support manager, Capacity building technician and Program manager) to outline the framework and architecture of the emergency package. He/she/they will contribute to the selection and repurposing of the simulation material that will integrate the package and help designing new material to fill existing gaps and ensure the global coherence and effectiveness of the package
