Trigyn has a contractual opportunity for Helpdesk/User Support Technician. This resource will work at our client site in Colombia.
**Responsibilities**:
The primary focus is on computer operations, user and desktop support (hardware and software), Helpdesk and Customer Service Support. Performs various information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services and that all IT and COMMS services are delivered when and where they are supposed to be to achieve desired results.
- Acts as a focal point for ICT issues and provides client first-line support.
- Assist in operating and maintaining the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) systems.
- Assist in setting up and configuring the end-use requirement.
- Assist in installing and maintaining the communications equipment for wired and wireless networks.
- Assist in daily and routine IT support—installing, operating, and maintaining computer systems and other technologies, such as communication systems.
- Assist in routine tasks, such as backing up data, monitoring network and systems, servers and peripherals, etc.
- Tracking inventory and evaluating new technologies.
- IT assistants may also work in other technological specialties, such as Web design or Internet security.
- Ensure the end-user system is running smoothly by providing System administration and maintenance, data protection, and end-user support.
- Back up the IT officer when needed.
- Maintain a high degree of client support for all queries.
- Works as part of a team of service coordination staff.
- Assists with receiving and logging service requests in the automated request management system.
- Assists with tasks related to scheduled service requests, including equipment replacement, equipment installation/de-installation, software installation, LAN connection, returns to stock, site surveys, etc.
- Provides input into the eventual drafts for end-user and technical documentation.
- Logs all actions in the automated tracking system, including site survey information, steps taken to resolve or complete the task, problems encountered, current status, escalation status, and other related metrics.
- Escalates problems/tasks to the appropriate parties by the established procedure;
monitors problems to resolution, detect problem patterns and consult with the supervisor to
- recommend solutions.- Keeps abreast of information systems and technology developments to make recommendations to supervisors.
- Work closely and report to the IT and Telecommunications officer.
- Carry out any other task assigned by their immediate supervisor.
The work is highly confidential, and the ICTD Help-desk III must maintain the highest standards of confidentiality.
Work Experience
At least two years of experience of progressively technical expertise in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Computer science, Business and Helpdesk & Customer Service Support related field.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English and Spanish (both oral and written) is required.
Education
High school diploma (or equivalent). Diplomas or certificates in Business Administration, Telecommunication and Information Technology Systems or related field knowledge are desirable.
Skills and Abilities:
- Helpdesk and Customer support experience.
- Experience in Outlook.
- Hands-on experience in Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office solutions, systems installation and configuration.
- Strong understanding of PC hardware setup and configuration.
- Good communication skills.
- Teamwork.
- Knowledge of system policies, rules, and regulations and Work experience within the client System or an international organisation is an asset.
