Staff Accountant

What you will do:

1. Month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
2. Lead the transition of accounting functions from external accountants to in-house accounting.
3. Ensure Oracle Fusion ERP localization to comply with Colombian accounting and tax regulations (NIIF/IFRS standards).
4. Manage Colombian tax compliance, ensuring proper calculation, filing, and payment of:
   1. Value-Added Tax (IVA)
   2. Income Tax (Impuesto de Renta y Complementarios)
   3. Withholding Taxes (Retención en la Fuente, ICA, and Cree - if applicable)
   4. Industry and Commerce Tax (Impuesto de Industria y Comercio - ICA)
   5. Payroll taxes and social security contributions (pension, health, ARL, SENA, ICBF, and compensation funds).
5. Reconcile subledger to general ledger account balances.
6. Support quarterly and annual audits, preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and financial reports in compliance with DIAN requirements.
7. Assist in the preparation of electronic invoicing and exogenous information reports (Información Exógena DIAN).
8. Ensure compliance with Colombian financial reporting requirements, including Superintendencia de Sociedades (Supersociedades) submissions, if applicable.
9. Monitor regulatory changes in Colombian tax laws and provide recommendations to ensure continued compliance.
10. Manage fixed assets accounting and depreciation schedules following Colombian tax regulations.
11. Respond to external and internal queries via email and phone regarding accounting and tax matters.
12. Assist in the development of internal controls and policies to improve financial processes.
13. Perform other accounting and compliance-related duties as assigned.

How you will grab our attention:

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. 3 to 5 years of combined experience in Colombian accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting.
3. Strong understanding of Colombian GAAP (NIIF/IFRS standards) and tax regulations.
4. Experience working with Oracle Fusion ERP is highly desirable.
5. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills preferred.
6. Experience in filing tax declarations with DIAN, including Form 110 (income tax), Form 300 (IVA), Form 350 (withholdings), and ICA reports.
7. Familiarity with electronic invoicing (facturación electrónica) regulations and DIAN's MUISCA platform.

1. Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
2. Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
3. Strong knowledge of Colombian tax regulations, including the ability to interpret and apply tax laws.
4. Experience working with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.
5. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Working Conditions:

Remote Location: This position allows you to work from any location in Colombia with a stable internet connection. You are expected to provide your own workspace and reliable internet access.

Work Hours: While core hours are based on the local business schedule, you have flexibility in organizing your work, provided it does not compromise project deadlines or team collaboration.

Equipment and Expenses: You will be provided with a company computer and other necessary equipment. Work-related expenses will be discussed and agreed upon in advance.
