Brief Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Performance Test Engineer to oversee our performance testing initiatives for Platform Engineering. As a Lead Performance Test Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing performance testing strategies, leading a team of performance testing professionals, and ensuring the scalability, reliability, and responsiveness of our high-traffic applications hosted in an AWS environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership in the development and execution of performance testing strategies.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to align performance testing efforts with overall project goals and milestones.
  • Mentor and guide nearshore performance testing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the creation of comprehensive performance test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
  • Direct the execution of performance test plans, ensuring thorough coverage of load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing.
  • Ensure adherence to industry best practices and standards in all performance testing activities.
  • Define, implement, and/or enhance existing performance testing automation strategies to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Evaluate and adopt appropriate performance testing tools and frameworks, with a focus on JMeter and/or Gatling.
  • Champion the use of automated performance testing to accelerate release cycles and improve application performance.
  • Collaborate effectively with development, product management, and other stakeholders to integrate performance testing processes seamlessly into the software development lifecycle.
  • Communicate performance testing progress, challenges, and results to project stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between nearshore and onshore teams.
  • Implement and champion best practices in performance testing processes and methodologies, driving continuous improvement within the performance testing team.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and performance testing methodologies to enhance testing capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive initiatives to optimize performance testing efficiency and effectiveness.

Lead the investigation and resolution of critical performance issues, working closely with the development and operations teams.

  • Escalate issues as needed, providing clear and well-documented information to facilitate swift resolution.
  • Implement robust performance issue tracking and reporting processes to ensure visibility and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Lead Performance Test Engineer, with a strong background in performance testing high-traffic applications.
  • Expertise in performance testing tools such as JMeter and/or Gatling.
  • Experience with AWS environments and performance testing in cloud-based infrastructures.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of performance testing best practices, tools, and technologies.
  • Experience with platform engineering and large-scale system integration.
  • Familiarity with performance monitoring and profiling tools.
  • Knowledge of agile and DevOps methodologies.
