Job Overview: Your Place on the Team

Be part of our client’s team as a Full Stack Engineer (Rails), responsible for designing and optimizing key features within a high-performing Ruby on Rails application. You'll work alongside a passionate team, using modern tech to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot systems that drive employee ownership forward.


Employment type: Indefinite Term Contract
Shift: Monday to Friday | 9:00 am to 6:00 pm CST
Work setup: Remote


Responsibilities: Your Daily Impact

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance features for the core Ruby on Rails application.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement new features.
  • Optimize application performance, database queries, and overall system architecture.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, adhering to best practices and industry standards.
  • Identify and troubleshoot software defects, performance bottlenecks, and system failures.
  • Stay current with the latest trends and advancements in Ruby on Rails and web development.

Requirements

Qualifications Needed: What Sets You Apart

  • Minimum of four years of experience building software in a team environment or equivalent expertise; applicants who can demonstrate strong teamwork in software development are encouraged to apply.
  • At least two years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails or equivalent.
  • Skilled in writing code that is accessible, scalable, maintainable, and high-performing.
  • Experience with background job processing environments, such as Sidekiq or other ActiveJob processors.
  • Proficient in writing complex queries for relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a remote environment, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and public communication.
  • Ability to work within US time zones for team collaboration, regardless of physical location.
  • Must be based in South or Central America; applications from the US or Europe are currently not being accepted.
  • Tech Stack: Ruby on Rails, SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL), JavaScript, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, Heroku
  • Preferred Skills: Familiarity with Zapier or Make
