Controller - Medellin

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our team in Medellín. We're looking for an individual who has ideally worked at a services and recurring revenue company before with revenues north of 10MM USD and are eager to learn and grow with a rapidly growing global company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. This person will work with two remote support staff and ensure that the organization's financial operations and reporting comply with regulatory requirements and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). 

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• High level business insights and reporting for the CEO.
• Prepare budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor budget variances and report significant discrepancies to management.
• Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
• Track client based MRR and churn metrics.
• Account reconciliations with multiple dimensions (class code and department and location).
• Monitors Accounts Receivable and Client Payments.
• Oversee monthly closing processes.
• Coordinate the preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
• Implement and monitor internal control policies and procedures.
• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Internal Accounting team (with 2 remote bookkeepers / accountants).

Requirements

• • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Public accounting experience or CPA degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Accounting Supervisor, Chief or Senior Accountant
  • Ideally has experience working at a recurring revenue or services company
  • Has experience with Quickbooks Online
  • Knowledge on Expensify and Bill.com is a plus
  • Moderate to Advanced knowledge of Excel for data analysis and some basic pivot tables. Must be able to use Formulas, Pivot Tables and Index Match formulas.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Technical skill of accounting process in multiple functional areas and possession of strong US GAAP accounting knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to identify issues and discuss with supervisor for timely resolution.
  • Able to look for ways to improve the accounting process and can communicate to the CEO & Founder in a thoughtful manner.
  • Proficiency on PC and computer skills including Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must reside in Medellín, Colombia, and be willing to come into the Medellin office at least three times a week.
