The Volunteer’s Role

Do you enjoy sharing your skills so local organizations and participants can build more sustainable futures? Do you enjoy teaching and have strong English language skills? This opportunity is for you.

Our partner organizations, Guardabosques de la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and Fundación Kaby, located in rural Santa Marta, require support to strengthen their English skills and those of the people impacted by their projects. This will help them to enhance their marketing strategies, commercialization of local products and agrotourism processes that they are carrying out to improve the living conditions of the local communities.

As a volunteer, you will:

Access the current English language level of staff. Design and implement an English language training program for participants and partner organizations, emphasizing marketing and local tourism. Integrate follow-up evaluations to measure partners' capacity building. Support in the translation process of visible content for marketing products, flyers, and websites.

Essential Requirements:

Degree or diploma in teaching, education, human and social sciences, pedagogy, or another related field.

Essential Background:

Experience in teaching, language practice, and development of training programs

Project - Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE)

Cuso International will deliver the Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE) project, with a contribution from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) over seven years (2020-2027). SHARE aims to improve the economic and/or social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people, particularly women and girls, in developing countries, to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to increasing the engagement of Canadians in international development and key global issues, this project will aim to increase the performance of country partners to deliver more inclusive, innovative and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality, in support of the action areas of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.

Guardabosques de la Sierra is an association focused on giving value to its cocoa through quality and transformation into derivative products. Always attentive to the preservation of regional cocoa trees, immersed in reforestation processes under agroforestry models of cocoa, gender equity under the premise of highlighting the values of community, care, solidarity, common good, and protection of our associated ethnic communities recognizing the diversity of our territory.
