As part of a small, mission-driven team, you'll play a hands-on role in building and scaling the systems behind our upcoming soft launch. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive at the intersection of gaming, backend systems, and live operations — crafting performant, stable, and delightful experiences that connect players' real-world motion to in-game progress.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Build and maintain game backend systems for a live-operated mobile game using Azure, PlayFab, Unity, and C#
  • Develop and deploy backend services using container technologies (Docker) and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
  • Design, document, and communicate technical specifications for new features
  • Integrate game client and backend systems to support multiplayer, progression, and live event features
  • Develop responsive web game dashboards and companion sites using React or React Native, JavaScript, and HTML
  • Support smooth live operations by debugging issues, optimizing server performance, and improving workflows
  • Collaborate with engineering, art, design, and narrative teams to bring the game vision to life
  • Conduct code reviews, share best practices, and mentor other engineers as needed
Who You Are
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software or game development
  • Proven track record of shipping a commercial Unity game or major feature (mobile preferred)
  • Experience with backend development and integrating live services (e.g., PlayFab, REST APIs, or cloud functions)
  • Comfortable owning end-to-end features — from architecture and implementation to deployment
  • Strong communicator who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative, remote teams
  • Familiar with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with web technologies (React, REST APIs, dashboards)
  • Experience with Azure Cloud and PlayFab services
  • Knowledge of Unity Addressables, UaaL, or mobile sensor APIs (step count, geolocation)
  • Prior experience working on live-service games or fitness/wellness apps
  • Interest in AI, ML, or UGC systems within gaming
  • Enthusiasm for fitness, creativity, and movement-based play
