AboutSPIA The Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA) isan independent entity within CGIAR, with a mandate from the CGIAR SystemCouncil to generate evidence on the impacts of the CGIAR system. SPIA isresponsible for providing rigorous, evidence -based, and independent strategicadvice on efficient and effective impact assessment methods and practices. Aboutthe position We are seeking a highly motivated remotesensing specialist to join the SPIA team.The selected candidate will provide advice onall aspects of remote sensing, specifically as it applies to a set ofnationally representative household surveys being commissioned and implementedover the period The remote sensing specialist will work under thesupervision of the program director for SPIA's country -level studies portfolio,hosted by IFPRI in the US, and will collaborate with a small team of otherresearch specialists focused on other specific areas of expertise (e.g.bioinformatics/ genotyping; replication, transparency and data curation standards;survey design, etc.).The position may also involve travel andfieldwork in support of SPIA's portfolio of country studies (Ethiopia, Uganda,Vietnam, Bangladesh, Egypt, Nigeria, India, Colombia). The person hired in thisposition will also be invited to take part in periodic face -to -face meetings ofthe SPIA advisory team. The position is hosted by The Alliance ofBioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture(CIAT), based in Palmira, Colombia. Requirements Qualifications and requirements Bachelor'sdegree in Agricultural Sciences / Geography or related fields.Masters'degree focused on remote sensing / geospatial sciences.Aninterest in agriculture in developing countries, including agriculturalinnovations. Skillsin computer languages used in geospatial analysis (i.e. R, Python) Provenexperience in implementing research projects. Availabilityto travel (National and International). Advanced fluent Englishlevel (oral and written). BenefitsTermsof employment This is anational recruited position placed at a BG08, on a scale of 14 levels,with level 14 being the highest. This is a Colombian national search and will be managed through a fixedterm contract of a one (1) year period, subject to a probation period accordingto the local legislation and is renewable depending on performance andavailability of resources.
