Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Subsidiary operation in Canada for Finance Service Unit ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures and guarantee the reasonableness of accounting information under the scope of the Accounting Team in Bogotá.

Accountabilities

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Perform requested documentations for auditing purposes.
• Perform financial analysis and reporting to Supervisor as needed.
• Perform Account reconciliations belong to Balance Sheet and P&L.
• Process Journal entries/reconciliation process and variance analysis as required
• Generate financial reports and statements to Supervisors for review.
• Analyze financial discrepancies and recommend effective resolutions.
• Prepared and record financial transactions according to company policies and regulations.
• Prepare information and files for regulatory reporting
• Attend meetings as required by team leaders.
• Identify process improvement opportunities for team and escalate to Accounting Supervisor.
• Keep Desktop Training Procedures (DTP) documents for relevant processes up to date.
• Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

• Solve and give quickly respond to internal and external requirements needs for the consolidation of the Financial Statements.
• Participate in Finance and business related projects in areas of responsibility
• Develop and improve the different task assigned, using all the analytical skills.
• Generate and apply the best practices in all the different process
• Understanding of accounting principles and ability to understand financial statements, their components and disclosure requirements (IFRS)

Education / Experience / Other Information

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
• 3+ years' experience in general or tax accounting (Big four companies)
• Experience with computerized ledger systems.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and improving skills in English.
• Communication Skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment.

Working Conditions

• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
