Purpose

The Full Stack Software Engineer Associate is responsible for providing specialized technical analysis, design, development, implementation and support of mission critical applications. The incumbent is responsible for current and future implementation projects within the group, introducing new technologies to meet business objectives and providing technical consultation, risk management, decision support and guidance to all medium to high complexity development projects.

Accountabilities 


•    Build cost effective and efficient applications to meet business objectives by analyzing user requirements, providing technical specifications and design, developing/maintaining programs according to standards. The incumbent must ensure programs and applications developed meet the high availability, security, integrity and reliability of the on-line transaction processing environment on time and on budget.

•    Provide technical guidance, subject matter expertise and knowledge transfer to fellow team members and stakeholders on all aspects of application development for assigned applications or technologies.

•    Provide recommendations on departmental standards surrounding systems architecture, application development, systems integration, data modelling, testing, performance testing as well as, performing reviews and walkthroughs of all major project deliverables to ensure the quality and completeness of functionality.

•    Implement new systems or enhancements by reviewing programs written by team members, establishing and executing system test procedures, developing implementation plans, developing the required program and system documentation and ensuring all functionality has been delivered as required. The incumbent is also required to provide post implementation support and training to the computer operations staff on the production processing functionality

•    Provide production and user acceptance testing application support to complex technical problems on all assigned applications and technology that serve each business unit by analysing problems, implementing solutions and developing new procedures surrounding support. 

•    The incumbent is guided by Bank policy and receives broad direction from the Senior Manager/Director, and general direction from the Project Manager for the projects assigned.  The incumbent is expected to function independently to identify opportunities for automation or efficiency, to introduce new technologies and to ensure that the department's objectives are met
Maintain a good understanding of the Division's business strategies, business policies, financial instruments, risk management and backoffice processing.  In addition, the incumbent is required to

•    provide leadership and specialized consultation in defining, planning and maintaining a strategy for the architecture, development and implementation of technology, systems and MIS within the Division to provide effective technical consulting and support services to the Division

•    Ensure the department's objectives are met by assisting in recruiting qualified staff, providing input to performance appraisals on time and maintaining up to date knowledge of technology, industry and business practices

•    Participate in team meetings to provide status updates, execution and development details

•    Provide application support after business hours and weekends as required

•    Show initiative in setting and meeting goals within an environment of managed change

•    The incumbent must have a good understanding of business systems development and business analysis, with the ability to support key development as required

•    The incumbent must have excellent analytical, problem solving and trouble shooting skills in order to develop and support systems to meet user requirements

•    The incumbent must be creative and flexible in identifying technical solutions to resolve business problems in a rapidly changing, demanding and complex business environment

•    Day-to-day decisions regarding approaches are handled independently by the incumbent

•    High degree of discretion and independent judgment to determine work priorities and approval of code delivery to UAT and Production

•    The incumbent must have a detailed understanding of the application systems he/she is responsible for

•    The incumbent must have good interpersonal and communication skills in order to deliver proposals, provide user support and interact with team members and other departments

•    A broad understanding and knowledge of the banking products, services, market trends, business lending, computer services, planning and control tools and organized structure

•    The incumbent is guided by Bank policy and receives general direction from the Technical Lead, Manager, Project Manager for the projects assigned

•    The incumbent is expected to function independently to ensure that the assigned tasks and project objectives are met

•    The Developer works with the agile team to support the Product Owner in refining the product backlog and prioritizing business value. The incumbent is required to work independently/autonomously within the parameters agreed upon by the development team

•    The incumbent is empowered and expected to own their solution, ensuring full integration and minimizing the impact of technical debt. Where issues are encountered, problem resolution is to be first discussed among the team. If required, proper escalation channels will be used
It is also expected that the incumbent will play a leadership role within the team, creating a positive work environment through coaching and encouragement in addition to providing their technical experience and advice with the rest of the team

Education / Experience / Other Information 


•    University or College Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline

•    2+ years working experience in systems architecture, business systems analysis and application development


•    Advanced Level of english

Technical Skills


•    Must have min Junior (2 to 5) years of technical hands-on working experience with Java Enterprise Edition, Java Script and open-source tools/libraries

•    Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience developing scalable web applications using y Springboot or JAVA  AngularJS, Javascript

•    Must have 3 years of technical hands-on working experience with Object-Oriented Design, Design Patterns, Microservices, Domain-Driven API design and Service Oriented Architecture

•    Must have technical hands-on working experience with Spring such as Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Batch or Spring Security

•    Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), React Hooks, Context API, and functional components.

•    Experience with state management libraries such as Redux, Zustand, or Recoil.

•    Familiarity with React performance optimization techniques, including memoization and lazy loading.

•    Experience integrating RESTful APIs and handling asynchronous data flows using Axios or Fetch.

•    Knowledge of component testing using tools like Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress.

•    Experience with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility using CSS-in-JS, TailwindCSS, or Styled Components.

•    Exposure to React-based frameworks like is a plus.

•    Technical hands-on working experience with Cloud based environments would be an asset

•    Technical hands-on working experience with Git, Gradle, Continuous Integration & Deployment Tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube

•    The incumbent must have solid background in system and application architecture solutions, development, maintenance, and support of a variety of banking/applications on different technology and platforms.

•    Must have excellent problem solving and analytical skills and is capable of multi-tasking and managing concurrent tasks and initiatives

•    Comfortable working in an Agile environment, and familiar with Agile development practice, i.e., TDD, CI/CD

•    Must have excellent oral and communication skills in English

•    Must be a self-starter, fast learner with positive attitude and team player

Working Conditions


•    Long periods of time are spent sitting at a PC using repetitive motions to access keyboard and mouse control.  Physical Environment

•    Incumbent is situated in an office environment where paper and chemical dust, noise and mechanical air circulation are present.

•    Sensory Attention

•    Extensive viewing of video display terminals, daily review of small print computer reports and detailed analytical work is required. Focused concentration is necessary to review and understand detailed technical requirements.

•    Volumes of work will vary with the project / release schedule and flexibility to meet the workload fluctuation is required. Overtime is often necessary for the incumbent and assigned staff.

•    Problems / conflicts must be identified and resolved immediately to minimize their impact on tight project deadlines.
Incumbent carries a laptop with dial-in access to provide after-hours consultation and direction.
