Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of  CCA Technology, Payments team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. 

Accountabilities 

•    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

•    Contribute to the assessment of sizing and complexity of User Stories and to the solutioning of those Stories.  

•    Develop User Stories to a high level of quality, including identifying error scenarios, the development of automated tests, and the review of code coverage and static code analysis reports. 

•    Ensure deliverables meet architectural and coding expectations, including leveraging modern language features and functional programming coding styles.

•    Contribute to reviews of pull requests created by peers.  

•    Proactively monitor application environments with available tools, create awareness in the larger team of any observed issues, and contribute to resolving those issues.

•    Proactively identify opportunities to drive modernization of technology and automation of processes, including offering ideas of solutions to these opportunities.

•    Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

•    Support to learn iSeries based microservices.

   Position  Backend Software Engineer Associate (Java), Corebanking & Integration

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

•    Strong English communication skills, both oral and written B1+ / B2

•    2+ years' experience in a Java Developer role; 
o    2+ years' experience with Java8 or higher
o    1+ years' experience with SpringBoot API (microservicios) (web Services)
o    Google cloud- kubernetes nice to have 

•    Expert with Postman, REST, SOAP

•    Database coding SQL Server , DB2

•    iSeries knowledge is an asset

•    Familiarity with cloud platform technologies is an asset

•    Familiarity with Payment and Card technologies is an asset

•    Experience in SCRUM Agile teams is an asset

•    Experience working remotely in distributed project engagements

•    Experience in banking or financial industry is an asset

•    Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or equivalent
