Purpose
Contribute to the overall success of Global HR Technology ensuring specific individual goals, learning opportunities, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Accountabilities
- Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Collaborate with teammates to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web-based business applications. This team is located in both Canada and Colombia.
- Develop and unit test applications in accordance with established standards.
- Apply best development and design practices and participate in peer reviews of solution designs and related code.
- Understand Java technologies.
- Develop, refine, and tune continuous integrations between applications.
- Analyze and resolve technical and application defects with excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties.
- Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on time.
- Provide third-level support to business users.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information
- Bachelor or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline.
- Extensive experience in object-oriented software design and development.
- 3+ years of technical working experience in system analysis, coding, debugging & testing.
- Hands-on working experience with the following technical currencies: Java/J2EE, Java Spring and Java frameworks (JDBC, Hibernate). Web technologies experience (React, JQuery, JSON) is also considered an asset.
- Experience in database design and development. Experience with data migration tools is a nice-to-have.
- Basic knowledge of IDE's for coding languages.
- Understanding of cloud-hosted environments.
- Technical working experience in a full or hybrid Agile environment. Passion for contributing to high-performance teams.
- Good interpersonal and excellent communication (verbal/written) skills to interact effectively with team members and other departments. Be able to explain complex technical solutions and concepts.
- B1+ level of English.
- Creativity and flexibility regarding identifying technical solutions to resolve business problems in a rapidly changing and demanding environment.
Working Conditions
- Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
