ROLE OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer – NA, the Senior Cloud Data Engineer is responsible for leading initiatives in a cross functional team, playing a critical role architecting and delivering custom cloud solutions with our clients. You will work collaboratively with our experienced Google Cloud and Google Marketing Platform experts to deliver sustainable solutions for our customers. From time to time, you will engage with our partners to unlock cloud delivery opportunities by showcasing our expertise.

The Senior Cloud Data Engineer will be responsible for building scalable and reliable ETL systems and pipelines to pull large and complex data together from different system efficiently within the GCP environment. They will collaborate with other data engineers and architects to build the most optimal and efficient ETL and database code as well as align with advanced GCP technology best practices. This role will be able to explain design and resolve technical or design conflicts that may arise.

AREA OF EXPERTISE:

The Client is part of WPP, the world's largest advertising and marketing services group. Clients come to us to solve today's biggest challenges, surrounding the use of data and technology, to support delivery of improved digital marketing experiences for their customers, across paid, owned and earned environments. Typically, their biggest area of investment is media, and using data and technology, to un-lock value in this area is critical. You will display a distinctive level of subject matter expertise on how to architect and deliver advertising / marketing technology and data strategies that accelerate client value, by increasing customer engagement and personalization in this area. Google is a key partner of ours, and a primary route to market – knowledge of the Google Marketing Platform as well as how Google Cloud can improve marketing efforts is a strong bonus.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Cloud Data Engineer to join the Data, Insight and Analytics team. You will work with customers to unlock the value of Google's Cloud Platform to create powerful systems able to accomplish vast business use cases, to be innovative on behalf of clients, and to enhance the measurement and activation of media. You will work closely with Data Analysts, Google Cloud and Google Media experts to deliver ambitious projects for our customers. As part of the role, you will lead a team of Cloud Engineers and be an escalation point on projects. You will also have a key role in developing deep relationships with our core partners and showcase our technical capabilities.

Requirements
5+ years hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud-based environments (Azure, AWS, etc.)

4-year college degree in a quantitative or related field or relevant work experience

Master's in a quantitative field a plus

Demonstrable deep knowledge and experience in Cloud migration, Cloud strategy and transformation, Cloud architecture and engineering.

Broad knowledge of the major Cloud vendors, with deep knowledge in GCP

Technical lead, management experience

A set of certifications in (GCP): Cloud Architect, Data Engineer or Cloud Engineer

Cost-effective Cloud delivery

Experience working with enterprise level media data and reporting desired.

Deep hands-on experience, building, scalable ETL pipelines (Apache Beam, Airflow)

Hands-on programming experience in Python and JavaScript

Technical depth and experience with SQL

Strong problem solving or analytics experience

Experience in leveraging Google Analytics data within GCP

Strong documentation, communication, and presentation skills

Passionate about working in an extremely fast-paced, demanding, and fluid start-up environment as well as having a desire to build a company up from an early stage

Job responsibilities

Liaise with stakeholders to propose modern production solutions from customer requirements

Contribute to advanced systems planning, scheduling, and implementation

Oversee purpose-driven engineering solutions & architect scalable data pipelines across cloud data repositories

Solutioning and facilitating project deliverables related to GCP data lakehouses.

Leading the design of modern data processing pipelines using Dataplex, Data Fusion, Data Catalog, Cloud Functions, and API data integrations.

Defining and optimizing operations workflows for data lakehouses.

Execute on proof of concepts with new technologies as they roll out from Google

Understand and be able to connect GCP to other third-party data systems and sources

Core escalation point for Cloud Engineers

Review and oversee platform enhancements

Execute implementations to tight deadlines, working well both independently and as part of a team

Communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff and the business

Govern our technologies to ensure security standards are met

Managing large Cloud projects for our clients across multiple regions globally

Work closely with the in-house developers to help share knowledge and improve the quality of practices

Taking ownership of projects, gaining a personal satisfaction in achieving high performing environments

Working in a DevOps capacity with a desire to automate everything

Design and build data pipelines using a Cloud platform

Manage and provision the Cloud solution infrastructure

Design for data security and compliance

Manage and automate ETL and cloud deployment implementations

Ensure solution and operations reliability

Design and implement Big Data and Data Warehousing solutions with their corresponding Data Governance processes

Able to manage Cloud databases

Present core architectural concepts to team and client technical teams

Produce presentations to clearly articulate the proposed solution and how they will work together

Work with broader consulting teams to produce content on how Cloud solutions can deliver on customer objectives

Provide domain expertise around public Cloud and Enterprise technology

Educate internal teams on existing/new features and capabilities on Google Cloud Platform to support fulfillment; train employees and offer platform expertise; define roadmap for long-term Customer Google Cloud Platform needs
