Job Title: Estimating and Takeoffs Specialist

Type: Full-time, Independent Contractor

Location: Remote (Latin America; preference for Colombia)

Work Hours: U.S. Pacific Time Zone

Summary

We are seeking an Estimating and Takeoffs Specialist to support our estimating team by performing digital takeoffs, preparing quantity and labor estimates, building bills of materials, and gathering supplier quotes. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate, timely estimates for low-voltage, security, cabling, and camera projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Takeoffs & Estimates

    • Perform digital takeoffs from drawings and specifications using Bluebeam.

    • Develop quantity takeoffs and preliminary labor estimates for low-voltage and related projects.

  • Bills of Materials & Vendor Management

    • Build accurate bills of materials (BOMs); identify alternates and value-engineered options.

    • Request, consolidate, and track supplier quotes, pricing, and lead times.

  • Documentation & Collaboration

    • Organize estimate files by brand and opportunity; ensure version control.

    • Collaborate with project managers to clarify scope, assumptions, and inclusions.

    • Support handoff to operations by providing BOMs, takeoff notes, and vendor quotes.

Requirements

  • Based in Colombia preferred; other Latin America locations welcome.

  • 2+ years of experience in estimating or takeoffs within construction, electrical, low-voltage, or related trades.

  • Proficiency with Bluebeam for measurements and markups.

  • Ability to read plans, elevations, schedules, and specifications.

  • Strong spreadsheet and documentation skills.

  • Clear written communication and organizational abilities.
