Purpose of the job
Ensure design concepts are converted into functional and high-quality production ready units on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working as part of your cross-functional team you will transform visualised retail concepts into manufacturing-ready technical drawings.
  • Working with the team in North America, you will be the design champion for your team's projects, owning the design and making it your responsibility to deliver it to the best quality possible.
  • As an experienced Design Engineer, you will possess extensive knowledge of manufacturing materials, processes, and costs, and ideally you will demonstrate experience of global manufacture.
  • You will be required, when necessary, to work directly with clients which may include project briefings and presentations, some of which may be face-to-face. Ability to travel abroad would be preferred.
  • You will be responsible for checking prototypes and factory first-off production units (virtually and/or in person, presenting them to clients as appropriate to advance the project.
  • You are responsible for meeting deadlines, working with your colleagues to design retail solutions that can be manufactured to client expectations. You will need to manage your own time effectively and communicate clearly with your team members to ensure all is on track.

Knowledge, Skills + Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in retail or fixture design.
  • Degree in Product Design Engineering or related field.
  • Advanced English level.
  • Strong experience designing for manufacture in metal (sheet, wire, tubular, welding, finishing), plastic (sheet fabrication, vacuum forming, injection molding, extrusion) and wood (fabrication and finishing).
  • Proficient user of 3D parametric CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to produce accurate 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Good sketching and visualization skills for early concepts and problem-solving.
  • Collaborating with conceptual designers and client services to translate concepts into manufacturable designs.
  • Develop 3D models and technical drawings for production using SolidWorks.
  • Identify and propose solutions to assembly or manufacturing challenges.
  • Ensure designs meet budget requirements and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Work closely with Technical Buyers to align design requirements with supplier capabilities across regions.
  • Manage prototype development, ensuring quality standards and on‑time delivery.
  • Conduct factory visits to verify construction, specifications, and quality.
  • Ensure designs comply with client requirements and health & safety standards; conduct testing when needed.
  • Maintain clear communication with all departments to ensure alignment and information flow.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage expectations effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and well‑organized working style.
  • Effective time management and ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; collaborative and confident in client interactions.
  • Positive, solutions‑oriented approach and lateral thinking capability.
  • Flexibility to adjust working hours when required and availability to travel.
