Senior Backend Engineer (Python | Cloud Architecture | AWS & Azure)

This role is for someone who enjoys designing robust systems, making architectural decisions, and mentoring others while working at the intersection of Python, cloud platforms (AWS & Azure), and modern product development.

About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in defining and evolving the backend architecture of our products. You will work closely with product managers, architects, and engineering leaders to design secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions in cloud environments.

Beyond hands-on development, you will contribute to technical strategy, ensure engineering best practices, and help grow the team through mentorship and technical guidance.

What You Will Do

  • Design and develop cloud-native backend services using Python.
  • Define and evolve product architecture, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Lead technical discussions and contribute to architectural decision-making.
  • Build and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK and related tools).
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
  • Ensure reliability, security, observability, and cost efficiency across AWS and Azure environments.
  • Review code and designs, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Collaborate closely with product, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in backend development with strong proficiency in Python.
  • Solid experience designing and operating cloud-native architectures on AWS and Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of system design, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS CDK and Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Experience with RESTful and asynchronous APIs.
  • Familiarity with core cloud services:
  • AWS:
    Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, CloudWatch.
  • Azure:
    Functions, App Services, AKS, SQL Database, Cosmos DB, Service Bus.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, CodePipeline).
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, cloud security, IAM, networking, and secrets management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, performance optimization experience, and debugging capabilities.
  • Proven ability to mentor, lead by example, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
