Our UI Artists operate within a highly creative, team-focused environment. They work with other creative and technical staff to design and implement top-shelf interface solutions for all of our game titles and across a wide range of styles. They need to be confident and enthusiastic communicators - people who appreciate and enjoy collaboration and iteration as a means to achieve the very best results.
The UI Artist’s responsibilities include:
Contributing directly to UI design and implementation on PikPok projects under guidance of senior staff and project leads, including but not limited to:
- Producing mockups.
- Designing and developing UI assets, effects and animation.
- Laying out screens in-engine.
- Working alongside designers and programmers to iterate and refine as required.
- Consult or otherwise work alongside design in exploring, scoping and planning UI.
**Requirements**:
- Proven capability in fundamental art and design practice: layout and composition, typography, colour theory, etc.
- Developed skills in general image creation and manipulation - you must be able to paint in Photoshop to a high quality, production-ready standard.
- Appreciation for and understanding of sound UI/UX design practice.
- The ability to work effectively across a diverse range of styles.
- A keen eye for motion graphics, animation and visual effects.
- Strong competency with Adobe CC.
- Experience working with the Unity game engine (a big plus).
- Familiarity with Agile development practices.
- A strong aptitude for developing new skills, and expanding one’s creative knowledge.
- The ability to communicate effectively and with confidence.
- A positive ‘can-do’ attitude, great work ethic and strong sense of initiative.
- Proven workflow, task management and scheduling skills.
- A willingness to mentor, support and inspire others.
- A developed understanding of (and appreciation for) video games as a creative medium.
- Fluency in English.
