The Data Scientist will design, build, and validate advanced AI/ML models to forecast vaccine supply and demand across Ontario. Leveraging historical vaccine inventory data and modern analytics techniques, the role will enable accurate, equitable, and efficient vaccine distribution while ensuring compliance with Ontario Public Service (OPS) AI and data governance frameworks.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Data Preparation & Modeling**
- Ingest, clean, and transform 5-10 years of vaccine inventory and distribution data.
- Create and manage synthetic datasets for model testing.

**AI Prototype Development**
- Design, train, and validate predictive models for vaccine logistics.
- Integrate AI outputs with user-friendly dashboards, digital twins, and interactive simulations.
- Explore use of MLOps pipelines, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns, and AI/BI dashboards.

**Evaluation & Optimization**
- Define KPIs, monitor model performance, and refine approaches based on stakeholder feedback.
- Document risks, ethical considerations, and adherence to Ontario’s Trustworthy AI Framework and Responsible AI Directive.

**Collaboration**
- Partner with business analysts, architects, and developers to align technical outputs with business requirements.
- Collaborate with PHO/Ministry AI specialists, academic experts, and OPS technical teams to ensure accuracy and sustainability.

**Knowledge Transfer**
- Produce a reusable **AI Playbook** to guide future vaccine forecasting use cases.
- Train PHO analysts on R/Python analysis, Power BI integration, and AI model usage.
- ** 5+ years of experience** in data science with expertise in **predictive modeling, forecasting, and optimization**.
- Proven track record in **healthcare, pharmaceutical, or vaccine supply chain analytics**.
- Proficiency in **Python, R, Databricks, Azure ML, Power BI**, and **synthetic data generation techniques**.
- Strong understanding of **MLOps practices, digital twins, and applied AI** in logistics and inventory management contexts.
- Knowledge of **PHIPA, privacy regulations, and ethical AI requirements** within healthcare.
- Familiarity with **cloud environments, digital health solutions, and government AI governance frameworks**.
- Excellent **communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills** to support cross-functional public sector teams.
