SQL Data Architecture

**Purpose of the role**:

Scope:

- Maintains database by determining structural requirements and developing and installing solutions.
- Ensures security of all information and computer systems and digital data.
- Ensures adherence to government regulations and guidelines for technological systems and safeguarding of data.
- Recommends upgrades and systems for purchase.
- Achieves information architecture operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews, preparing and completing action plans, implementing production and quality standards, resolving problems, identifying trends, determining system improvements, and implementing change.
- Studies organizational mission, goals, and business drivers, and confers with senior management to understand information requirements.
- Defines infrastructure for design and integration of internet computing systems by analyzing information requirements, studying business operations and user-interface requirements, and directing development of physical database.
- Determines platform architecture, technology, and tools.
- Improves architecture by tracking emerging technologies and evaluating their applicability to business goals and operational requirements.
- Communicates technology needs and strategy to fellow members of executive team.

Formal Education & Certification:

- Four-year university degree or college diploma in computer science

**Skills and experience required**:
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience
- Understanding of data analysis, business principles, and operations
- Software architecture and design
- Network design and implementation
- Problem-solving capability
- Ability to clearly present technical information to fellow technical professionals as well as non-technical peers

- Presentation and communication skills

Technology:

- High level of proficiency in procedural, object-oriented, and scripted programming languages such as C, C++, C#
- Experience with NoSQL, SQL databases, statistics, and algorithms
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Broad technical background, a strong DBA track record and expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL server including SQL 2000, 2005, 2008/R2, 2019 and Azure SQL
- Development of automated database maintenance utilities
- Ability to write SQL scripts, procedures, functions
- Develop methods for integrating different products so they work properly together to fit specifications.
- Collaborate with system architects, software architects
- Demonstrate database technical functionality, such as performance tuning, backup and recovery, monitoring.
- Design databases to for business solutions, scalability, security, compliance, performance, and reliability.
- Strong high availability/Disaster recovery background on Microsoft platform, VM technologies, Microservices
- Excellent skills with advanced features such as database encryption, replication, partitioning, etc.
