**Job role and responsibilities**:

- Create and build robust data structures to support end user’s analysis and decision making across multiple business verticals. This includes both end-to-end architecting and business solutioning.
- Collaborate with end users and peers to understand requirements, formulate use cases, and then translate into an effective technical solution
- Manage a team of engineers implementing data pipelines and system integration back end services; building and maintaining data infrastructure to process and synchronize across a variety of data domains and source systems
- Work with team leads, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure that our data infrastructure meets business needs.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas to our technology, algorithms, and products.
- Effectively communicate and interact with business and technical personnel in solving complex data related business and technical problems.
- Monitor data warehouse eco-system and identify opportunities to make enhancements.
- Ensure data processes run and complete on a timely basis to ensure business continuity.
- Adhere to timelines and excel in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Drive data best practices and contribute to development of overall data strategy and roadmap.
- Foster a sense of inspired curiosity within the team and support the development of team members as technical professionals
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and direct technical contribution to the development of a data pipeline that incorporates structured and unstructured data and prepares it for modeling and reporting for Inchcape business
- Work on a cross-functional agile team that is responsive to the needs of the business and contributes to the overall data, bi & analytics strategy
- Contribute to the development of the organization by sharing knowledge with peers both within the team and across the organization and providing mentorship to help develop data engineering expertise within our teams
- Keep up-to-date with relevant technologies in order to maintain and enhance platform functionality
- Participate in formulation of wider Data, BI & Analytics strategy and roadmap; Support sustained innovation in both technical solutions and methods of delivering data solutions and appropriate documentation standards.

**Skills and experience required**:
**Experience**:

- 5+ years of Data Engineering Lead or management experience
- Experience with Microsoft Azure is a must, you should have built products at scale on the platform ideally using data factory / data bricks etc
- 5+ years of experience with data warehousing, BI, and reporting tools
- Ability to balance the demands of multiple projects while pushing the intellectual envelope in search of solutions to complex problems
- Experience demonstrating breadth, creativity, and innovation

**Education**:

- Degree from a good university.
- Agile delivery qualifications (e.g. SAFE; Six Sigma) are an advantage.
- Project Management qualifications (e.g. APM / PRINCE2 / CAPM) is an advantage.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

- Experience in supporting internal stakeholders, with a proven track record of customer excellence
- A highly organized nature with high attention to detail
- Foster open communication and listen actively
- Practice information sharing and collaboration
- Present ideas & concepts logically with accurate documentation
- Plan and prioritizes own work as well as guides others to ensure all goals are met

Technical skills:

- Experience with Microsoft PowerBI software is an advantage.
