**Job Description**:
CMC Materials is seeking a Sr Material Engineer to join our Materials Engineering team This role will be responsible for managing the technical relationship with key suppliers to our Electronic Chemicals business unit. This position will work directly with our global technical and development team as well as business teams to support material (abrasives and chemicals) selection at the product innovation stage. This position is also responsible for materials selection for better slurry product performance, identifying new chemical or abrasive suppliers, managing SH&E risks, improving supplier capability, and meeting semiconductor industry quality standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Main technical interface between raw material suppliers and CMC to assure all requirements for incoming material quality is met
- Collects and evaluates supplier process and product data to have an understanding of how the material properties impact product quality
- Builds supplier capabilities, and assures their capability to meet all expectations on quality, cost, and delivery
- Serves as a technical and risk assessment owner for any Supplier changes impacting the raw material
- Builds solid relationships with suppliers and interact regularly in order to focus and drive timely resolution of issues
- Works closely with other functional groups, and global materials engineers to collect information for Supplier metrics
- Independently leads customer investigations related to raw materials, including direct customer interfacing when vital
- Main contact for developing technical and quality road maps and risk assessment with suppliers for Continuous Improvement activities on process, metrology, and quality systems
- Uses CMC‘s quality management processes including audits, FMEAs, corrective actions, scorecards, six sigma projects, and management of change, to assure consistent and high-quality raw material supply
- Identifies and drives the best value and cost reduction opportunities with existing supply base and works closely with procurement group to drive to completion

Education & Experience

B.S Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science. An advanced degree is a plus. Six-Sigma Green Belt preferred, Black Belt a Plus.

5-7+ years of related chemical or abrasives manufacturing-related experience.

Must have an in-depth understanding of chemical or abrasive manufacturing processes, continuous improvement methods, problem-solving techniques, SPC, and FMEA. Understanding of metrology of materials and particle processes is a plus.

Experience in a chemical or industrial manufacturing environment is required.

An understanding of Quality Systems, auditing, and performance evaluation processes is required.

Knowledge of statistical software such as Minitab, JMP is required.

Demonstrable success working with suppliers or customers is preferred.

Experience in semiconductor, microelectronics, automotive, or high tech industry a plus.

Project management experience is a plus.
