**The role**

As part of our delivery team, this engineering role is centered on enhancing the production pace of Wolfi (Linux) Packages and container images.

The DevOps Engineer will be tasked with diligently addressing a backlog of image-building tasks, aiming for precision and efficiency. A key part of the role is to uphold our commitment to high-quality standards in the creation of container images.

**What you’ll do**:
**Package Building**:Develop packages within Wolfi and Enterprise repositories, adhering to technical specifications and integration requirements.

**Image Creation**: Produce container images for both public and private use, balancing the need for speed with uncompromised quality.

**Backlog Management**: Efficiently work through a prioritized backlog of images, ensuring each is processed according to project timelines and quality expectations.

**Team Collaboration**:Engage with the software engineering team to ensure smooth. integration of new images into existing production workflows offers containerization insights during team discussions and supports collective goals.

**Reporting**:Provide consistent updates to the project manager, celebrating progress and identifying any obstacles to maintaining project momentum.

**Essential requirements**:

- Strong expertise in Linux environments with hands-on experience in package creation and management.

Experience in building, debugging, and optimizing container images (Docker). Experience with container registries. Familiarity with container orchestration systems (e.g.: Kubernetes / EKS / EKS, AWS ECS, docker swarm).

Expertise with Maven, Gradle, JVM, Dependency management - conflicted dependencies, shadowing/shaded.

Knowledge of systems security - bumping dependencies, patching vulnerabilities.

Competence in scripting and automation, with languages such as Python, Go Bash, or similar.

Understanding of cloud services (e.g. GCP, AWS),
container orchestration with Kubernetes, infrastructure as code using Terraform, and
familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.

Strong communication skills, proficiency in English, ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and seek help proactively when necessary.

**Nice to have**:
**Vulnerability Management**:Skilled at identifying, evaluating, and mitigating software vulnerabilities.

**FedRAMP Knowledge**: An understanding of the FedRAMP framework and its compliance requirements.
