**The Opportunity**
The Training Logistics & Travel Team Lead leads the strategic planning and execution of complex domestic and international travel operations to support ongoing training delivery. This role oversees a team of travel and logistics specialists and ensures all travel is conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and government regulations. Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, customer service, and diplomatic skills. This position is contingent on program award to Abt.
**Core Responsibilities**
- Strategic Training Logistics Oversight _
- Lead the development and implementation of travel logistics strategies aligned with program goals, including building scalable processes and procedures
- Supervise and mentor travel logistics staff, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
- Oversee door-to-door travel coordination including flights, accommodations, ground transportation, and visas for trainees and staff.
- Advise key stakeholders on regional training requirements
- Support creation of training groups and courses
- Compliance & Risk Management _
- Ensure all travel activities comply with company policies, U.S. Government and donor regulations, and host country requirements.
- Collaborate with the security team to monitor travel advisories and develop contingency plans.
- Manage traveler profiles, insurance, and medical evacuation coverage (e.g., ISOS).
- Vendor & Budget Management _
- Establish and maintain relationships with travel agencies, hotels, car services, and other vendors.
- Approve and monitor travel budgets; ensure cost-effective planning and accurate expense tracking.
- Evaluate vendor service performance.
- Serve as pay agent for US government stakeholders at training events when required.
- Team Support & Communication _
- Represents Abt Global and works directly with key stakeholders to ensure on-going program performance as well as scalable travel and logistics strategies for expanded program needs.
- Drives initiatives with full accountability for project decisions, in partnership with cross-functional teams.
- Serve as escalation point for travel-related issues and disruptions.
- Ensure timely communication with travelers and internal stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and support to team members managing day-to-day travel logistics.
- Systems & Reporting _
- Oversee the maintenance of centralized travel calendars and real-time updates.
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of travel metrics and vendor performance.
- Lead audit preparation and donor reporting related to travel and per diem documentation.
- Deliver weekly operational updates to HQ leadership.
**What We Value**
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, international relations, or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in travel logistics, including 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex travel operations under pressure.
- Expertise in international travel protocols, visa requirements, and health/safety procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
- Experience supporting U.S. government programs.
- Strong knowledge of travel risk mitigation strategies in fragile or high-risk environments.
- Proficiency with travel booking platforms and expense systems.
