**Position Summary**:
As a Solution Architect, you will play an important role in the software development cycle, gathering requirements and directing the activities of the rest of the team. This role requires excellent attention to detail, as the solution architect frequently needs to examine functional specifications and translate them into system guidelines that shape project development as well as find ways to align projects with enterprise-level systems. In addition to guiding development teams, a solution architect is frequently responsible for conducting research on existing systems and devising solutions that work within those systems. They may also meet directly with clients to demonstrate solutions, answer questions regarding software capabilities and requirements, and work to resolve issues that arise during the development cycle. You’ll work on extremely complex problems and provide highly innovative solutions and make highly visible enhancements to our platform by maintaining and building new features, as well as integrating several of our internal systems into one cohesive platform.

This role will be responsible for articulating the vision for the team and leading strategic initiatives that enhance our platforms. You’ll be holding the ultimate accountability for the product definition that best meets the needs of the business and customers’ expectations. You’ll provide mentorship to engineers in and out of your team, drive and improve our development process, and architect and deploy new services and systems that scale. You are comfortable learning and working with a variety of languages and tools (we use AWS Platform, Java, Java Spring Boot, Python, TypeScript, Angular, and MySQL) to support technical and strategic outcomes. You’ll facilitate that teams have appropriate product and technical knowledge, guidance, and resources to deliver solutions effectively to ensure that missions remain on target to meet all stages and timelines. Serve as an accessible advisor for the team. Guide them and continue to improve their performance and professional skills. Our teams will lean on your expertise for best practices in design patterns, code quality, testing, and innovation to keep our commitment to always putting our customers first.

Our Software Engineering department is made up of cross-functional Agile development teams that deploy solutions to the cloud. You’ll tackle some of the most difficult challenges in scaling a digital healthcare system by developing creative and intuitive features that maximize value and efficiency across the organization.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Gather Functional Requirements**

One of the primary duties of the solution architect is to gather requirements and specifications from clients and users. As part of this process, the solution architect may examine existing systems, processes, and programs to identify areas for improvement and integration.

**Develop Specifications**

Before developers can begin work on a project, the solution architect uses their familiarity with functional requirements and existing systems to develop project specifications. They may develop schedules and test plans, prepare documentation based on analyst reports, and assemble documents presenting project guidelines and milestones to team members. At the same time, solution architects may identify potential issues between systems and client specifications and propose new solutions to work around these limitations.

**Determine Estimates & Project Scope**

A solution architect is also responsible for providing estimates and determining a project’s scope before developers begin any major work. They may conduct extra research on a client’s existing systems and configurations to determine whether added time and work are necessary to align the project with enterprise-level systems. They also identify areas where implementation may require more solutions to be successful. Throughout this process, the solution architect communicates directly with developers, internal stakeholders, and clients to ensure estimates are completed and project scopes are accurate.
