Solar Electrical Estimator

Overview We are an international company specializing in nearshoring solutions. Our mission is to connect top engineering talent in Latin America with leading companies in the United States and abroad. We are seeking a Senior Solar Electrical Estimator to support our expanding Solar EPC business. This role involves analyzing solar project plans, preparing accurate cost estimates, leading estimation processes, and ensuring profitability for large-scale renewable energy projects. Key Responsibilities Lead the preparation of estimates by reviewing project requirements, electrical drawings, and technical specifications. Develop complete bills of materials and labor estimates for solar projects (residential, commercial, and industrial). Perform detailed takeoffs from design drawings, factoring in labor rates, productivity, and material availability. Collaborate closely with pre-construction, project management, operations, and finance teams across international markets. Utilize estimating software (e.g., ConEst, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar) to compute costs and forecast project performance. Provide profitability analysis and recommend strategies to improve margins. Prepare and submit competitive bids within established deadlines. Mentor, guide, and train junior estimators, promoting best practices and consistency in cost databases and estimation processes. Act as a leader within the estimating team, ensuring effective communication, problem resolution, and continuous process improvement. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Construction Management, or related field. Minimum 5+ years of experience in solar electrical estimating. Proven track record of delivering cost estimates for large-scale solar EPC projects. Strong understanding of PV system design, NEC/NFPA/UL standards, and solar project documentation. Proficiency in MS Office and estimating software (ConEst or equivalent). Demonstrated leadership skills, including team management, decision-making, and mentoring. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and build trust across multicultural, remote teams. Highly organized, analytical, and proactive.
