We are seeking is a Claims Specialist Jr to manage freight claims from intake through final resolution. This role is critical to protecting DTS’s financial exposure, reducing claim liability, improving loss runs, and holding carriers accountable. We are not looking for someone with prior claims experience. We care far more about personality, attention to detail, communication strength, and persistence. This role requires someone who is confident, organized, and comfortable pushing back when needed. Key Responsibilities Manage freight claims end-to-end, from initial intake and evaluation through final resolution and closure. Receive, log, and acknowledge claims within required timelines, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant Communicate effectively with shippers, carriers, insurance providers, and internal stakeholders throughout the claim lifecycle Coordinate with carriers, insurance brokers, and adjusters to pursue recoveries, offsets, and subrogation Maintain accurate, audit-ready claim files to support insurance reviews and renewals. Track and analyze claim trends, recurring issues, and loss drivers to identify high-risk lanes, customers, and carriers Provide insights and recommendations to operations and leadership to reduce future claim exposure Partner with operations and dispatch teams to strengthen claim prevention strategies Educate internal teams on proper documentation practices (BOLs, PODs, notations) to minimize risk Proactively flag operational gaps or process issues that increase liability and claim frequency Requirements to Apply 1–2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related operational environment (Preferable) Prior exposure to freight operations, carrier coordination, or transportation documentation is a strong plus Direct experience in claims, insurance, or legal processes is not required Willingness and ability to learn claims management processes; full training will be provided for the right candidate. Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
