Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for managing the successful delivery of external Client Assessments, Projects, and Enterprise Data Management (EDM) solutions involving Data Warehousing, Master Data Management, Data Quality, Data Engineering, and Business Intelligence initiatives. This includes management of project resources, risks, and issues, communication of status to project stakeholders, and deliverable completion and acceptance. This position will be involved in performing business analysis, creating and managing project plans, and regularly working with business and technical users. The Project Manager will be responsible for scheduling resources, documentation capture, and sign-off of deliverables. This position will have the opportunity to engage with clients utilizing all aspects of a Data Management organization including Data Governance, Data Quality, MDM, and Business Intelligence. You will also be working closely with Cloud, Big Data, Data Modeling, and Data Engineering consultants. The Project Manager must be able to work well in multi-functional and multi-shore project teams. Who will you work with? Most of the working day is 9-5, except for some early or late meetings to meet with multi-shore project teams. Some travel may be required to client sites in the U.S. Most of your work will be conducted remotely using collaborative tools and video conferencing. Essential Duties 50% Project Delivery Create project plans, complete with estimated duration, tasks, resources, and milestones. Ensure project deliverables are strategically aligned with business and project objectives. Coordinate meetings between team members and business and IT stakeholders. Gain sign-off on project deliverables. Identify risks, their associated potential impacts, and the mitigation of the risks. \>Manage resources to ensure adherence to the project plan. Implement project change requests and corrective actions to ensure project success. 25% Project Administration Utilize and identify tools, processes, and templates to manage projects effectively Maintain meeting/project documentation and identify and track changes in project scope. Update and maintain project plans on a regular basis. Assist with identifying and producing project metrics to be used in tracking project success. 10% Communication Consistent communication to stakeholders and project sponsors outlining status, risks, issues, key decisions, and action plans, including accurate and timely updates on project deliverables, timelines, and budget. Identify project stakeholders and project participants, establish roles and responsibilities with rules of engagement, communicate status, and issue resolution. 10% Management and Leadership Providing coaching and mentoring of project resources to ensure the projects are delivered on-time and within budget. 5% Other duties as assigned or identified Education & Experience 5-10 years of experience as a project manager on medium to large-scale IT projects, and 5+ years focused in at least 2 of the following areas: • Data Integration/Movement • Business Intelligence • Data Quality • Cloud Platforms • Master Data Management • Big Data • Data Governance • Business and Data Analysis • Data Modeling • 3+ years of experience delivering projects with a combination of onshore and offshore project teams in a consultant role. Must have experience with BI/DW implementations and the enterprise data management space • At least 4 years of solid Agile experience in a Data Warehouse environment. • Knowledge of other project management disciplines and methodologies, including: Waterfall, RUPP, Scrum, Kanban. Highly competent with MS Project and standard desktop MS Office applications. Bachelor’s Degree in Business or IT preferred, or 3 years of relevant professional experience. Experience with master data management. • Experience with data governance. • JIRA and/or Trello and/or TFS. • Experience managing project teams of 5-20 people. A deep level of experience creating and managing project plans, including estimation, task identification, resource planning, resource balancing, loading, and risk mitigation. Proven knowledge of Software Development Lifecycles and Methodologies (i.e. Agile, Waterfall, etc.). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Deep knowledge in multiple areas of the data management industry (Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Big Data, Cloud, MDM, Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Modeling). Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage complex project dependencies. Ability to lead group facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively in a team environment. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpolate from abstract material. Ability to partner across the organization to coordinate resources and solve issues. Excellent planning and time management skills. Effective communication with mid to upper level management. Demonstrated work ethic, focus, and self-discipline. Is willing and capable of taking on conflict resolution within an account with internal and/or external resources. Is effective in a variety of formal project and external presentation/meeting settings: one-on-ones, small and large groups, with peers, direct reports, and superiors. Demonstrates strong understanding of the types of technology/tools available and how these are used in EDM solutions. This includes an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of leading technologies/ tools such that they can have a meaningful discussion of such with clients and team members. Modifies the DSC methodology to fit the needs of the client, enhance value to the client, and maintain/enhance the profitability of the engagement. Demonstrates the ability to create new and innovative solutions to problems that have previously not been encountered. Excels in a fast-paced, agile environment where critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills are required for success.
