The primary purpose of this position is to provide field assistance and development activities to support Ministry initiatives. Key Responsibilities The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties: 1. Assist and work closely with technical officers in the proper execution of planned (crop extension, livestock, research and development) activities in the field. 2. Participate in the effective implementation of assigned planned agriculture field programs. 3. Study, understand and comply with assigned agriculture development activities (livestock, research and development, crop extension) standards and regulations to support Ministry operations. 4. Assist in the timely collection of field data. 5. Assist technical staff in preparing for field days, training, field trials and other similar activities. 6. Assist technical staff in preparing accurate data recording and reports on time when required. 7. Actively contribute to all corporate requirements of the Ministry, Cleanliness of Office Stations and Compound, Ad hoc requests from Senior Executive Management, Ministerial Events and Functions, business process improvements (smart work methods) where required. Knowledge & Experience 1. At least 6 to 12 months relevant work experience. 2. Proven working knowledge on agriculture development (livestock, crop extension or crop research and development work) 3. Demonstrated experience to work long hours in physically demanding situations. 4. Sound knowledge and basic understanding of Occupational Health & Safety and applicable laws of Fiji. Skills & Abilities 1. Good oral and written communication skills. 2. Demonstrated ability to manage time and perform optimally. 3. Demonstrated abilities to provide basic administrative and logistics support in a work environment. 4. Possess a pro-active and professional attitude, able to prioritize and multi- task to complete work in a timely manner with high integrity. 5. Proven self- starter and an effective team player to meet tight deadlines in a working environment. 6. Ability to adhere and follow instructions as provided. 7. Service oriented approach with a commitment to support the operational/corporate environment of the organization. Additional Information Applicants for employment must be Fijian Citizens, under Age 60, in sound health, with a clear police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition of employment for substantive appointment.
