Lead Officer – Infrastructure and Energy – Andean Region Location: Bogota, D.C., Capital District, Colombia. IDB Invest is the private sector arm of the IDB Group and an international financial institution committed to addressing the development needs of Latin America and the Caribbean. This will allow IDB Invest to significantly scale up its investments, nearly doubling annual financing from approximately $8 billion to $19 billion, and unlocking greater private sector participation to drive development and climate impact across the region. Responsibilities Business Development & Client Acquisition: identify and target new business opportunities; lead the preparation and delivery of client pitches, offering tailored financial solutions; leverage existing networks to bring in new clients while maintaining and growing relationships with existing clients. Deal Origination and Execution: lead the identification and evaluation of potential lending, investment, or advisory opportunities; lead the due diligence process; contribute to the preparation and review of transaction documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IDB Invest standards. Upstream and Project Preparation: lead efforts for the identification of projects that need further development before they become bankable; mobilize and lead the internal teams of IDB Invest to provide advisory services and other upstream efforts to prepare projects for financing, including risk assessment and identification, capital structure and funding strategy, pre‑feasibility and feasibility studies (market analysis, financial modeling, environmental and social). Team Leadership and Development: manage cross‑functional teams through all stages of transaction execution; mentor and train junior staff on financial modeling, deal structuring, and client management; conduct regular reviews of team members’ performance, offering feedback and development plans aligned with organizational goals. Collaboration and Teamwork: work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams across IDB Invest, particularly on environmental, social and corporate governance safeguards, development effectiveness, legal, advisory, risk and integrity functions; foster a team‑oriented environment; collaborate with IDB experts to offer the best solutions to clients; support the Portfolio Management Division as needed on supervising the portfolio of Infrastructure & Energy projects. IDB Group Synergies: collaborate with public and private sectors to offer the best solutions to clients; interact with IDB teams in the region to contribute to Governments and Authorities, ensuring the applicable regulatory frameworks and national/regional infrastructure investment plans enable the structuring of financially viable and bankable projects. Qualifications Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, International Development, or other relevant fields; academic specialization in infrastructure development and/or transaction management is desirable. Experience: at least 6+ years of relevant professional experience, with experience in loan, equity origination, structuring complex structured finance (project finance) transactions, and a validated track‑record of working with a broad range of financial instruments and products; strong client relationship experience and skills are highly valued. Languages: highly proficient oral and written English and Spanish. Requirements Citizenship: you must be either a citizen of Colombia or a non‑citizen eligible to obtain residency or authorization to work in Colombia without the need for sponsorship by IDB Invest. Consanguinity: you have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab. Contract and Duration National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement. Benefits A competitive compensation package.
