We are seeking a dedicated Lead PHP Software Engineer to join our Platform Governance team, focused on ensuring the stability and scalability of our leading Open SaaS e‑commerce platform. You will play a key role in designing and implementing solutions to manage platform performance and enforce resource limits, directly impacting the experience of thousands of merchants globally. Responsibilities Collaborate with engineering teams to analyze system architecture and identify critical performance paths Provide data‑driven recommendations for platform performance improvements Enhance load testing methodologies, tools, and best practices within the team Document and communicate test plans, results, and technical insights clearly Optimize identified bottlenecks to improve platform scalability and stability Develop and implement limits enforcement mechanisms across platform entry points Support continuous integration and deployment processes to maintain platform health Monitor platform metrics using Prometheus and ELK to ensure operational excellence Leverage OpenTelemetry for performance tracing and diagnostics Engage with cross‑functional teams to align platform governance strategies with business goals Drive initiatives to proactively manage resource allocation and fair use across the platform Mentor team members to foster growth and technical expertise Stay current with emerging technologies relevant to platform governance and e‑commerce Requirements Minimum of 5 years of relevant software engineering experience in complex, scalable systems Strong experience with PHP and proficiency in Go or Scala programming languages with readiness to work across all three languages Expertise with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Elastic Stack (ELK) for monitoring and performance analysis Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure and microservices architectures Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines Solid problem‑solving and debugging skills with a focus on system performance Prior experience in the e‑commerce domain including store operations, catalog management, and checkout workflows Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse technical and non‑technical audiences Proactive attitude with a strong drive to identify challenges and implement solutions Growth mindset with eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving challenges Upper‑Intermediate English proficiency (B2) for effective communication across teams Nice to Have Familiarity with distributed systems and event‑driven architectures Experience in scalability and performance testing including load generation and monitoring Expertise in automation for testing, data collection, and reporting Hands‑on experience with load testing tools such as K6, JMeter, or Blazemeter Prior exposure to Scala programming language We Offer International projects with top brands Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers Employee financial programs Paid time off and sick leave Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ courses Global career opportunities Volunteer and community involvement opportunities EPAM Employee Groups Award‑winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn #J-18808-Ljbffr
