Our Client Our client is a three integrated, cloud-based modules - Recruit, Develop, Manage - meet the unique needs of public sector HR teams by automating and supporting the entire employee lifecycle, streamlining processes and diversity initiatives, all from one centralized platform. Job Summary We are seeking a skilled PL/SQL Software Engineer to join our distributed agile team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our HRIS product suite. In this role, you will be directly responsible for developing innovative new features and modernizing existing functionality within our multi-tenant, cloud-based SaaS platform that serves the Human Resources sector, including Payroll, Benefits, Time & Attendance, and CoreHR modules. You will leverage your deep Oracle expertise to build robust, scalable, and high-performance solutions that meet the complex needs of our customers. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and deploy high‑quality PL/SQL code for new features and enhancements within our HRIS product lines. Analyze, refactor, and modernize existing PL/SQL codebase to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability. Adopt a proactive "shift‑left" development mindset, taking full ownership of unit testing, integration testing, and verifying the functional correctness of your solutions. Collaborate within a distributed agile team, participating in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and code reviews. Proactively identify and implement performance optimization strategies for complex SQL queries and database procedures. Utilize and champion the use of AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to enhance productivity, code quality, and problem‑solving efficiency. Create and maintain clear technical documentation for database designs, processes, and APIs. Troubleshoot and resolve complex database‑related issues in production and non‑production environments. Qualifications and Job Requirements Experience: 3+ years of professional software development experience with a primary focus on Oracle PL/SQL. Strong understanding of the Oracle PL/SQL language (packages, procedures, functions, triggers, advanced SQL). Solid grasp of Oracle RDBMS fundamentals, architecture, and best practices. Proven experience in database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies. Experience working with large‑scale, multi‑tenant database systems (preferably in a SaaS environment). Demonstrated commitment to a "shift‑left" testing philosophy and hands‑on experience with PL/SQL unit testing frameworks (e.g., utPLSQL). Familiarity and enthusiasm for leveraging AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude, etc.) as part of the standard development workflow. Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of working effectively in a distributed/remote team environment.
