Creative Strategist - Farmers Defense | Remote About Farmers Defense Join a mission-driven DTC brand doing 8 figures annually in protective workwear and outdoor apparel/accessories. We serve hard‑working Americans who need reliable protection - from farmers and ranchers to landscapers and outdoor lovers. We're at an inflection point: strong product‑market fit and ready to scale from low to mid 8 figures. We need someone who can help us build the marketing systems and operations to get there. The Role We're looking for a marketing Swiss Army knife - someone who can blend creative strategy, performance marketing and analysis, and e‑commerce operations into a cohesive growth engine. This isn't a pure specialist role. You'll need to be comfortable jumping between writing a creative brief for our video editor, analyzing why Meta is underperforming, coordinating a product launch, and optimizing a landing page - all in the same day. What you'll own Creative strategy and performance analysis Product launch execution and coordination Marketing operations and website management Marketing calendar and team coordination What you'll grow into Full media buying management (Meta, Google, Amazon) Performance marketing overall function Strategic marketing leadership This is a player‑coach role . What You'll Actually Do Week 1 Shadow the founder to understand how everything currently works Learn the business model, products, customers, and operations Study our top‑performing creative and figure out why it works Get access to all platforms (Meta, Google, Amazon, Shopify, Klaviyo) Month 1 Write 5-10 creative briefs per week for our video editor Analyze ad performance and identify what's working (and what's not) Develop hypotheses for new angles, hooks, and concepts to test Start learning the media buying side by analyzing campaigns with the founder Month 2–3 Project manage our spring line product launches from strategy to execution Coordinate between video editor, email designer, affiliate manager, operations team and founder Write email copy, landing page copy, and ad copy Build product pages and collections in Shopify Learn media buying hands‑on (campaign setup, optimization, scaling) Own daily media buying decisions across Meta, Google, and Amazon Continuously improve creative based on performance data Contribute to quarterly planning and strategy Scale the systems you've built Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities Creative Strategy & Analysis (40% of time) Write detailed creative briefs - You'll write 5-10 video briefs and 3-5 static briefs per week for our creative team. These need to be specific: exact hooks, shot lists, messaging frameworks, not vague concepts. Analyze creative performance - Figure out why some ads work and others don't. What hooks are resonating? What angles are dying? What should we double down on? Develop strategic concepts - We have 4 product categories. You'll need to develop different messaging strategies for different personas and use cases. Manage creative team output - Give feedback to our video editor and work with our email designer to ensure quality and brand consistency. Performance Marketing & Media Buying (30% of time) Deep campaign analysis - Daily review of Meta, Google, and Amazon performance. What's scaling? What's dying? What needs to be adjusted? Learn media buying hands‑on - Shadow the founder initially, then progressively take on campaign setup, optimization, and scaling decisions. Testing strategy - Design and execute tests for new audiences, creative, offers, and landing pages. E‑Commerce Operations & Launches (20% of time) Product launches - You'll own 6-10 product launches per year from end to end. That means: coordinating creative production, building product pages, writing copy, setting up email campaigns, managing launch day execution. Website management - Build and optimize product pages, landing pages, and collections in Shopify. Implement sales, manage discount codes, coordinate with our email designer on site updates. Offer testing - Design and execute tests for checkout offers, bundles, upsells, and promotions. Build hypotheses, implement changes, analyze results. Project management - Keep launches, sales, and tests on track. Nothing falls through the cracks on your watch. Marketing Strategy & Coordination (10% of time) Email marketing - Write email copy for campaigns and product launches. Brief our email designer on design needs. Optimize flows based on performance. Marketing calendar - Build and maintain the calendar for launches, sales, content, and tests. Ensure the team knows what's coming. Team coordination - Run weekly meetings with the creative team. Ensure everyone is aligned on priorities. Reporting & planning - Weekly performance reviews with the founder. Monthly deep dives. Quarterly strategic planning. What You Need to Succeed Must‑Haves (Deal‑breakers) 3-5 years of e‑commerce marketing experience – You've done this before at a DTC brand or agency. You know how performance marketing and e‑commerce operations work in practice, not just in theory. Knowledge and an understanding of Performance Media buying – You understand how the marketing funnel works, what levers exist that impact performance, and how to tactically manipulate those. Strong copywriting skills – You can write compelling ad copy, email copy, and landing page copy. Your writing is clear, persuasive, and conversion‑focused. Creative strategy experience – You've written creative briefs before or worked closely with creative teams. You can translate performance data into actionable creative direction. E‑commerce operations experience – You're comfortable in Shopify. You can build product pages, set up sales, manage collections, and troubleshoot basic technical issues. Data‑driven decision making – You naturally look at data before making decisions. You know how to extract insights from messy data and separate signal from noise. Problem‑solving mindset – When something breaks or isn't working, you don't wait for instructions – you figure it out. You ask good questions and think from first principles. Self‑starter mentality – You're comfortable with ambiguity. You can take a vague objective and turn it into a concrete plan without needing your hand held.
