Our goal in AirOps is to ensure safe, reliable, and seamless airline and airport operations. The Flight, Baggage, and Ramp Operations (FBR) solutions within the AirOps portfolio play a critical role in helping airlines manage safety-critical operational processes, from flight departure planning and baggage reconciliation to ramp operations and emerging end-to-end baggage logistics.

Summary of the Role

As Senior Manager, Software Engineering – FBR Americas, you will lead a large, multi-team software engineering organization of 50+ people, including Engineering Managers, Software Engineers, SRE/DevOps engineers, and senior technical contributors based primarily in Bogotá.

This is a senior software engineering leadership role with accountability for engineering execution, technical quality, production reliability, organizational development, and the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical software systems.

You will lead multiple engineering teams responsible for software supporting major airlines across the Americas and globally. You will work closely with Engineering, Product Management, Solution Management, and Architecture teams across regions to translate business and product strategy into scalable, reliable technology solutions.

Operating within a global engineering environment spanning Bogotá, London, and Bangalore, you will lead through complex cross-product and cross-site dependencies while maintaining a strong focus on software engineering excellence, system reliability, technical quality, and sustainable delivery.

In This Role You Will

Lead and Develop a Large Software Engineering Organization

• Lead a 50+ person, multi-team software engineering organization , including Engineering Managers, Software Engineers, SRE/DevOps engineers, and senior individual contributors.
• Develop Engineering Managers and senior technical talent, strengthening leadership capability across the organization.
• Create an engineering culture built on trust, accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Manage performance, career development, succession planning, and organizational capability across engineering teams.
• Build and evolve the engineering organization to support current product needs and future technology strategy.
• Empower engineering teams to identify problems, make sound technical decisions, and continuously improve how software is built and operated.

Drive Software Engineering and Technical Excellence

• Champion engineering practices that improve software quality, maintainability, reliability, scalability, security, and operational resilience .
• Ensure engineering teams effectively design, build, test, deploy, operate, and evolve large-scale software systems.
• Partner with Engineering Managers, technical leaders, and architects to address complex technical challenges and make appropriate engineering trade-offs.
• Promote strong software development lifecycle practices and continuous improvement across development, DevOps/SRE, and production operations.
• Ensure technical quality and operational stability remain central to engineering decision-making.
• Foster a culture of engineering ownership in which teams remain accountable for the quality and reliability of the systems they build.

Ensure Reliability of Mission-Critical Systems

• Provide engineering leadership for complex systems supporting safety-sensitive airline and airport operations .
• Ensure strong production stability and operational support for systems that must operate reliably 24x7, 365 days a year .
• Drive continuous improvements in system resilience, reliability, security, and operational performance.
• Provide senior engineering leadership during major production incidents, escalations, and complex technical challenges.
• Balance rapid delivery and business needs with the engineering standards required for mission-critical systems.

Lead Engineering Delivery at Scale

• Lead the engineering delivery of complex software products and initiatives across multiple teams, products, sites, and stakeholders.
• Ensure engineering organizations deliver predictably while maintaining built-in quality and sustainable engineering practices.
• Identify and remove engineering delivery constraints, technical dependencies, and organizational bottlenecks.
• Work within Lean-Agile and SAFe environments while ensuring engineering priorities and technical quality remain strongly represented.
• Partner with Product Management, Release Train Engineering, and Architecture to coordinate delivery across complex value streams.
