About the Role We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to drive performance improvements in our core services. The role focuses on deep systems analysis, distributed tracing, and profiling to identify and resolve critical bottlenecks across our distributed architecture. Responsibilities Performance Optimization: Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve performance bottlenecks within our distributed systems (latency, throughput, CPU, memory, I/O). Distributed Tracing Implementation: Design, implement, and maintain advanced tracing solutions (e.g., OpenTelemetry, New Relic, Cloud Trace). System Profiling & Analysis: Use profiling tools (Flame Graphs, eBPF, DTrace, Cloud Profiler) for deep performance dives. Benchmarking and Load Testing: Develop and execute comprehensive performance and load tests. Tooling Development: Build and enhance internal tools and dashboards for real‑time monitoring and anomaly detection. Collaboration & Mentorship: Work with development teams to promote best practices. Capacity Planning: Provide data and analysis to inform capacity planning and scaling decisions. Requirements 5+ years of software development experience with a focus on systems performance and reliability. Strong proficiency in a systems‑level language (Go, C++, Java, or Rust). Deep understanding of distributed systems (microservices, concurrency, fault tolerance). Hands‑on experience with distributed tracing and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.). Solid knowledge of Linux/UNIX internals (kernel scheduling, memory management, networking). Excellent grasp of data structures and algorithms affecting performance. Expertise with GCP ecosystem (GKE, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud Profiler). Equivalent competencies will be considered. Preferred Qualifications Experience in large‑scale, high‑traffic production environments. Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and performance challenges. Experience with eBPF observability. Optimizing database performance (SQL/NoSQL).
