Position: Climate Services Analyst

Position Overview:
CarbonBetter is seeking a Climate Analyst who is passionate about sustainability and client service. We are looking for a gifted researcher, thinker, problem solver, and writer to support our Sustainability & Decarbonization services. The Climate Analyst will support clients at all stages of their sustainability journey - from assessing their carbon footprint, quantifying their environmental impacts, and generating annual sustainability reports to developing decarbonization strategies and carbon offsetting plans. The Climate Analyst will also help clients share their environmental impacts and highlight their successes through reporting and storytelling. Our goal is to help make clients’ environmental impacts go beyond the numbers and enable businesses to be leaders in the decarbonization of their industry.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience in sustainability and GHG accounting: Interest and ideally a 3+ years of experience in GHG accounting (scope 1, 2, and 3), product LCAs, development of decarbonization strategies, and creation of sustainability reports. Consulting experience will be considered a plus.
  2. Research: Ability to perform methodical research and synthesis of carbon accounting methodologies, existing public and private sector policies, standards and protocols for environmental and climate disclosures, climate science studies, carbon credit standards and protocols, and other relevant data and information sources.
  3. Client service: Passion to serve clients and support them in their sustainability journey.
  4. Thought Leadership Development: Ability to create public-facing content and internal thought leadership pieces to explain company viewpoints on a variety of sustainability related topics to be shared on our Stories page on our website.
  5. Business Collaboration: Willingness to support related business processes such as client proposals, partnership formation, sustainability reporting, case study development, marketing copy, and public relations.
  6. Monitoring changes in the world of Sustainability: Interest in continuously keeping up to speed with external research and emerging viewpoints to improve the effectiveness of CarbonBetter’s sustainability efforts.
  7. (Not required but a plus) Carbon Offset Protocol Application: Knowledge of navigating the application process for developing carbon offset credits by applying appropriate standards and protocols and working with registration and verification bodies.

About You:

  1. Fluency in English is required.
  2. Savvy data analyst, expertise working with Excel and managing large volumes of data.
  3. Experience in sustainability, environmental research and/or consulting.
  4. Field experience in climate studies, sustainability, carbon reduction, regenerative agriculture, or forest carbon is a plus.
  5. Exceptional writer and a great storyteller.
  6. Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related field.
  7. Characteristics: inquisitive; analytical; insightful; communicative; mission-driven; detail-oriented.
  8. Values: belief in science-based solutions for climate change; recognition of the power to drive change from within.

Working Hours & Location:

  1. Our office is located in the El Poblado area of Medellín.
  2. The working hours for this role are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm CDT and are to remain in sync with the company’s Austin HQ (Central Time) throughout the year.
  3. Occasional travel to Austin, TX (Headquarters) or client location may be required.
  4. This role will primarily be remote; however, you may occasionally be required to come to the office.
  5. Holiday schedule adjustment to better match US holidays.
