Purpose As an Architect in International Banking Technology, you will be in a high‑impact role. The Solution Architect is responsible for managing a set of tasks and techniques used to work as a liaison among various stakeholders to understand the structure, policies, and operations of an organization, and to recommend technical / business solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. You are a hands‑on Architect with a result oriented and curious mindset, and deep technical skills. You will provide guidance to teams IB countries to enable effective delivery of solutions. Ensuring the solution is delivery on bank standards and technology correct. Accountabilities Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Responsible for the design, architecture and documentation of effective and quality solutions that resolve highly complex business problems and support business needs. Analyze highly complex business requirements; generate technical specifications to design or redesign complex software components and applications. Building, architecting, designing, and implementing highly distributed global based systems. Experience in network infrastructure, security, data, or application development. Modernizing legacy systems or similar transformational initiatives. Author architectural patterns to help assessment teams improve and develop their processes. Socialize with larger audiences using reporting, real‑time dashboards, and hosting education sessions. Act as an expert technical resource for modeling, simulation, and analysis efforts Leverage industry best practices to design, test, implement and support a solution. Assure quality security and compliance requirements are met for supported area. Be flexible and thrive in an evolving environment. Adapt to change quickly and adjust work accordingly in a positive manner. The role requires interaction with business and technology leadership, consequently effective communications commensurate with the audience and the ability to promote an idea and gain consensus is critical. Responsible for the Implementation of a trusted governance model where architecture assessments are automated based on enterprise standards and policies. Helping drives the implementation of trusted policies and standards with the help internal teams such as Security, Infrastructure, Data, etc. Deployment of a technology solution that will implement the trusted governance framework, policies and workflows. Challenge the solution architect’s way of thinking by implementing architectural design principles to improve the bank’s security, resiliency and technology footprint. Continuously research current and emerging technologies and propose changes were needed. Inform various stakeholders about any issues with the current technical solutions being implemented. Create designs and reference architectures for enterprise Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment. Manage the process of defining, modifying, and adopting architectural guidelines, best practices, technologies, and programming paradigms to ensure consistency in development. Perform proof‑of‑concept tests to support the evaluation and integration of best practices, technologies, tools, and programming paradigms, aiming to enhance development processes. Engage in and complete the software development team’s training programs to build technical skills that effectively enhance business value. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be incorporate into in day‑to‑day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day‑to‑day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Education / Experience / Other Information Must to have : 8+ years of software engineering industry experience Experience building, architecting, designing, and implementing highly distributed global based systems. Experience in network infrastructure, security, data, or application development. Must be a leader with excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills to build consensus and obtain co‑operation from development teams and technology engineering leaders. Disciplined in development methodology and familiar with software development technologies and concepts. Practical experience with systems design and specification for large scale applications. Knowledge of object‑oriented programming and other programming paradigms Knowledge and experience using software design patterns Knowledge of architectural styles Experience with defining and governing the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Experience designing and implementing APIs Proficiency in English at a minimum of B2 level Proficiency in one of the following: JS-TS React, Java, Kotlin, Node, Python, Native Applications, or equivalent. Preferable : Experience in modernizing legacy systems or similar transformational initiatives Experience with structured architectural practices, hybrid cloud deployments, and the planning and execution of on‑premises to cloud migration.
