LatAm - Lead AWS Data Engineer

We are actively seeking a Lead AWS Data Engineer to join our growing team in LATAM. This remote role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact projects, specifically focusing on complex data migrations and cloud-native architecture design. As a Lead, you will own the end-to-end execution of data strategies, moving beyond execution to define the "how" and "why" of our data solutions. You will collaborate intimately with clients to translate business requirements into scalable AWS architectures, overseeing the migration of legacy systems to modern cloud platforms. You will also play a crucial role in mentoring Senior and Junior engineers, ensuring code quality, and implementing best practices in data governance and security. Strategic Leadership & Architecture: Design, architect, and oversee the implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud-native data solutions using AWS services (Glue, Redshift, Lambda, EMR, Step Functions). Migration Ownership: Lead the end-to-end execution of complex data migration projects. This includes determining migration methods, evaluating tools (DMS, SCT), designing schema conversions, and verifying successful data loads. Client Engagement: Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data migration requirements, define technical roadmaps, and present tailored solutions. Team Mentorship: Provide technical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams. Conduct code reviews, lead technical planning sessions, and mentor developers to foster a culture of engineering excellence. Data Governance & Quality: Implement and enforce best practices in data governance, data lineage, quality assurance, and security across the AWS ecosystem. Pipeline Optimization: Oversee the scripting and optimization of ETL/ELT pipelines to ensure efficient data ingestion, transformation, and storage for analytics and real-time processing. Professional Experience: 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with a strong track record of delivering large-scale distributed data pipelines. Migration Expertise: 3+ years of specific focus on data migration projects, with hands-on experience using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), Schema Conversion Tool (SCT), and related frameworks. Technical Mastery: AWS: Extensive expertise in the AWS ecosystem (Glue, S3, Redshift, Lambda, EMR). Languages: Advanced proficiency in Python (for data engineering) and SQL . Big Data: Proficiency with PySpark and Apache Spark workflows. Education: BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience). Communication: Advanced/Fluent English (written and spoken) is required for daily client interaction. Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead teams, manage client expectations, and maintain collaborative relationships in a remote environment.
