Payroll Clerk

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support payroll operations for operational and administrative staff within a logistics environment. This role is responsible for processing payroll accurately across multiple pay structures, ensuring compliance with labor and tax requirements, and maintaining strict confidentiality. The Payroll Clerk works closely with HR, operations, and fleet teams to ensure timely and accurate compensation. Key Responsibilities Payroll Processing: Collect, verify, and process payroll data for drivers and office personnel, including variable pay structures such as mileage-based or delivery-based compensation. Timekeeping & Attendance: Review and validate timekeeping data including clock‑ins, clock‑outs, breaks, missed punches, overtime, and shift differentials. Deductions & Reimbursements: Process payroll deductions for uniforms, safety equipment, company advances, and benefits. Ensure reimbursements (tolls, fuel, lodging) are handled correctly and not improperly taxed. Payroll Compliance: Ensure accurate payroll taxation for multi‑state or multi‑jurisdiction employees and maintain required records for audits, including DOT‑related documentation when applicable. Reporting & Coordination: Generate payroll cost reports by department and coordinate with HR, fleet management, and operations to validate headcount and payroll data. Audit Support: Provide documentation and support during payroll audits or compliance reviews. Essential Skills & Qualifications Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy High level of confidentiality and discretion Solid organizational and time‑management skills Basic accounting and payroll knowledge Ability to work with high employee volumes and variable pay structures Comfortable working in an onsite, fast‑paced environment Bilingual, English B2 or C1 preferably Preferred Qualifications Experience with payroll or timekeeping systems Familiarity with driver compensation models (pay‑per‑mile, per‑load, per‑drop) Proficiency with Excel or spreadsheets for payroll reporting Knowledge of labor and payroll tax regulations Position Details Seniority level: Entry level Employment type: Full‑time Job function: Human Resources Industries: Truck Transportation #J-18808-Ljbffr
