About the Role:

This is a high-profile Software Development Engineer position on our Services team at OfferUp, where you will be responsible for developing and deploying multiple features with exceptional operational excellence. Your key responsibilities will include everything from designing well-architected code to rolling out new features by analyzing metrics. You will take ownership beyond your technical area by working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and helping establish good coding practices.

The OfferUp Services team focuses on three main products: Premium, PromotePlus, and Paywalls. We cater to the diverse needs of high-volume sellers and seasoned buyers in local markets across the US. Our team prioritizes feature enhancement, performance optimization, and elevating conversion and retention rates. As we expand our reach, we work across all domains to improve our products continuously. This role is only available outside the US and not open to individuals based within the US or any US territory.

Your Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Help create and deliver new mobile and web experiences for OfferUp using front-end technologies like NodeJS, React, and React Native.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features.
  • Maintain code quality in existing applications (mobile and web).
  • Create solutions and/or frameworks that enhance efficiency and productivity among team members.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in Javascript or Typescript.
  • Experience developing mobile applications in a professional setting.
  • Demonstrate strong coding skills in Front-end focused Software Development (React Native, ReactJS, HTML, CSS).
  • Experience with Apollo GraphQL.
  • Good knowledge of Data Structures and Object Oriented Design.
  • Experience with cross-browser compatibility, client-side security, browser tuning, SEO, and optimization techniques/tools for multi-tier large-scale web architecture.
  • Knowledge in web optimization performance, and design patterns e.g. responsive design vs optimized design.
  • An insatiable desire and ability to learn.
  • A fast-paced development environment is preferred.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken (fluency in English required).

Compensation: $120,000 per year, competitive salary and benefits package.
